RPS Successes

There is excellent news on the Royal Photographic Society front with Jeff Owen achieving his associateship.  Jeff was awarded his ARPS with his intriguing panel “Bark Beetle Tracks” .

This prestigious RPS award requires applicants to submit 15 related images that sit harmoniously together and meet the aims set out in a statement of intent.  Jeff’s panel was created from macro images of the tracks made by bark beetle larva feeding on the trees. In the trails the larva left behind Jeff saw, patterns that ‘reminded me of ancient art, Nazca lines in the Peru desert, cave paintings, hieroglyphs and aboriginal art. In some I could see strange figures locked together.’

Jeff processed the images to bring out his interpretation but notes that we each see something different and asks what do you see?

Another recent RPS success was for Jonathan Fiske who entered the monthly competition for the first time and was short listed. To make the final 20 out of 738 entries is a very good result, and especially pleasing for a first attempt.

Many congratulations to both Jeff and Jonathan.
