LAST CALL & AN ALERT Ladies Little Christmas Lunch – Friday 3rd January
Dear Ladies of the Club
Please note there was a glitch on the RPS email address in this post earlier and if you haven’t heard from me asking for your menu choice, I did not get your message. If that’s the case, or if you would like to join us but haven’t yet let me know, this is the last call, and I’ll need to know you’ll be there, along with your menu choice, which you can select from here. https://www.walnuttreepub.co.uk/menus/ The rpsgroup@chichestercameraclub.org.uk is now working, but you can always use my personal address if you have it – we just don’t publish those here.
It is our custom to get together on the Friday closest to Epiphany to celebrate Little Christmas, or Nollaig na mBan as it is in Irish. It’s a very old tradition, celebrated across Europe and still very alive in parts of Ireland where, back in the day, housework in many homes in Ireland would have been exclusively done by the women of the household. Women’s Little Christmas was traditionally a day when the men were tasked with all of the chores and the women got together and enjoyed a well earned day out, (stifle your groans ladies about ‘what’s changed’ please.)
We meet at the Walnut Tree in Runcton https://www.walnuttreepub.co.uk/ to have a chance to chat, enjoy a good meal, and a drink (or two) and simply spend some social time together.
I need to know if you would like to join us to book the table, and closer to the time will need to take your food pre-orders. So first of all, please email me via rpsgroup@chichestercameraclub.org.uk to let me know you’ll be there.
I look forward to seeing you, and in readiness for wishing each other a Happy Little Christmas, I offer you the Irish, ‘Nollaig na mBan shona daoibh’, which is pronounced ‘Null-ug-na-Mon son-ah jeeve’.
