Annual Exhibition – important info for exhibitors

Photo: Lorraine Short

Congratulations to all those who have had their images selected for the annual exhibition. Here is the important information about setting up day Friday August 4.

  • The strong arm gang will have set up the panels in the Assembly Room upstairs. They will also set out the print boxes near the relevant panels, labelled accordingly.
  • You should arrive between 10am and 11am to lay out your own prints. If you are unable to attend you need to appoint someone to put up your prints for you.
  • If possible bring a steel tape measure and a small spirit level. There will be some in the hall but demand will be heavy.
  • At the entrance there will be a plan showing which panel you have been allocated. Be aware that your prints may be across two adjacent panels and you may also be sharing your panel with another exhibitor.
  • On the panel will be a photo showing how the prints are to be arranged on the panel. NB this may not accord with your hanging plan.
  • You will find your prints in the black box near your panel, wrapped in cling-film. There will also be a note showing how they should be displayed using the ‘sticker numbers’ on the top right corner on the back of the mount.
  • In the hall there will be hand-outs showing the measurements to be used to lay out the prints, eg distances from the top and the sides of the panel. This is to ensure consistency throughout the exhibition.
  • Prints are attached to the panels using Velcro dots which are stuck to the back of the mount. These are available in the hall.
  • If you are unsure how to start or finish your layout, then do ask. There is plenty of help available!
  • Once all prints have been mounted, every image will be given an exhibition number, and award winners will be labelled.
  • The exhibition catalogue will list all the numbers, together with exhibitor names, image titles and awards.
  • The Projected Images will be shown on a TV screen in the refreshment area.
  • All hanging needs to be completed by 12.00, so that the strong arm gang can re-arrange the room for the evening Preview meeting.
  • On Saturday August 12 at 5pm you must take your prints down. Please only remove your prints – leave all panel labels and numbers to be collected separately. If you can’t attend, please arrange for someone else to collect them for you.

Our Preview evening is on Friday August 4, 7.00 for 7.30. This is for all club members and guests. The first part of the evening takes place in the Assembly Room which will be laid out with seats, theatre style. Our patron, the Mayor of Chichester, will present the club league trophies. Anne Eckersley, President of the Southern Counties Photographic Federation, will present some awards. Our exhibition judge, Ken Scott will present the trophies for the categories he judged and David Abbott, our President will present some club awards. Jeff will then show a short version of the PDI slideshow. After the Mayor has declared the exhibition open, we will have the second part of the evening, which will be refreshments downstairs. The exhibition will be re-formed upstairs and you and your guests will be free to wander around.
