North Mundham 1st and 2nd February – All Members

With Christmas and the New Year fast approaching, plans for North Mundham, our first exhibition of 2025, are falling nicely into place.

There are three Club exhibitions over the year, the week-long Annual Exhibition in August held at the Assembly Room in Chichester, and the two weekend exhibitions, Spring and North Mundham.

Unlike the Annual Exhibition, which is judged and requires exhibitors to follow display requirements, the other two exhibitions are ‘free form’. That is, the exhibitors select one, two or even three display boards (the standard grey boards we use for all exhibitions) and have a free choice as to what and how to show their work. There is no judging and no selection process, and it means we often see quite different and very creative work at these exhibitions.

North Mundham shows the work of our Advanced Members while the Spring Exhibition gives our Intermediate and Club Class Members the chance to show their work at our home base, Tangmere Village Centre.

While space restricts the two exhibitions to different class members, both are for everyone and as well as the chance to see work outside the competition limits, provide an excellent social opportunity and time to sit and chat, with refreshments available at both and very good lunches at North Mundham.

And both need support from across the club to succeed! With North Mundham now on the horizon, we will be looking for volunteers to help make things run smoothly and to raise funds for the benefit of the club..

  • Firstly, there is still some space for exhibitors, and you can find the entry form and necessary information here NM Entry Form 2025
  • Members in Advanced Class for PDIs can enter up to 6 PDIs via Photocomp, which will be opening shortly.
  • Then, Sarah Nichol will be needing helpers for the daily catering as well as cakes to go with the coffee and teas on offer.
  • There is a tombola (thank you Carmel Lynch and Lynne Owen) and we need GOOD QUALITY items for that. Decent bottles of wine are always an attraction, any unwanted Christmas presents go down well and in particular children’s toys are a big draw for our younger visitors.
  • Margret and Caroline Preece will be running the print raffle where each exhibitor is required to donate a mounted print. We particularly need someone to help Caroline and Margret after the exhibition to match raffle winners with their winnings, so someone to assist there would be very welcome.
  • There’s an evening meal on the Saturday (further details later) organised by Chris Worsley and Madeleine Craggs who will also be after helpers.
  • Mike Harris and Brian Muir will be organising the strong arm gang who get all the kit to the hall and back afterwards – help also needed there please.
  • And with Matt Thompson and Vince Lavender looking after publicity there will soon be flyers we’d appreciate everyone helping to distribute – an item on your social media also works really well to bring visitors.

We must thank Stephen Marsh for all his help over many years in producing the biographies we use at North Mundham. Stephen is stepping down from that now and I’m very pleased (and not a little relieved) to say that Jennie Anderson has taken on the North Mundham role and Vivien Ruddock will be doing the Spring Exhibition bios. Thank you both!

North Mundham is one of the most highly regarded photography exhibitions in the south east, attracting hundreds of visitors from across the area. It is a very special chance to show our work and to spend time together – it also raises considerable funds for the club. It does though require support from across the club to back up the excellent work done by the Working Party so do please step in where you can!
