Chairman’s Blog 29th March
Events to look forward to are the last Beginners and Intermediate Print Competition on Thursday being judged by Tony Oliver and the opening of the Focus Group Exhibition on Saturday the 2nd April until Saturday the 9th open from 10 to 5.
At Thursdays meeting we celebrated our Presidents Jeanne Bevis’s birthday with an Easter egg as a token of our appreciation.
At the meeting the quality and objectiveness in judging we always experience from Chris Palmer was demonstrated in judging the last Advanced print competition. He had a difficult task in ranking the very best images, which were of the highest standard. He gave very relevant comments on the images that did not reach the top scores. His encouragement and positive feedback and praise for the ability within the club was well received.
The results from the SCPF championship confirmed the high level of photography within the club as we won the Print Championship outright with 4 points ahead of the second place Southampton and we were third in the PDI championship 5 points behind the winner. Ross Laney was presented a bronze medal by SCPF Vice President Peter Rocchiccioli for his print appropriately called “The Midas Touch” getting 15 points out of a maximum of 15. Ross and Keith Sawyer also got Highly Commended getting 14 points.
Well done all those who contributed prints and PDIs making the selection committees job difficult in succeeding to choose the best work to represent the club.
I am sure there are participants in the Spring Exhibition who still need to provide their CV to Kim Tattersall and hanging plan to Lorna. Best get on with it!
