LAST CALL Ladies’ Little Christmas – 6th January

Dear Ladies of the Club

This is the last call for the Ladies Little Christmas (details below) to which all Lady Members are cordially invited. Please let me know via  mailto:rpsgroup@chichestercameraclub.org.uk by Tuesday 3rd January.

Until we were so rudely interrupted by the pandemic it had been our habit to celebrate Ladies’ Little Christmas, or Noillaig na mBan as it is known in Ireland. An old tradition marking the end of the Christmas season on the 6th January, the celebration is also called Women’s Christmas in Ireland where the tradition remains strong in Cork and Kerry, and where the men take on the household duties for the day. (It is telling that our two Irish lady members say their families recognise this, while our gentleman Irish member denied all knowledge of it!)

I’m very pleased to say we can resume this ‘tradition’ and meet again for lunch at the Walnut Tree, Runction on Friday 6th January at 12.30 for 1pm (TBC).
