Ladies Little Christmas

Dear Ladies of the Club

Our now traditional Christmas Celebration lunch will take place on Friday 2nd January, at the Walnut Tree in Runcton at 12 noon.

For our newer members, Women’s Christmas is an ancient tradition once widely celebrated especially in northern Europe and which, as Nollaig na mBan, is still marked in Ireland. The idea being that the women who have been so busy over Christmas get a day off and the men take over the household chores, although I have heard that this aspect of the day hasn’t always been as fully supported by some of our menfolk as might be liked. Strictly speaking this should be held on Epiphany, but we gather on the closest Friday to that within the holiday period. It is a great chance for the ladies to get together, share a meal and drink (or two), and a particularly good opportunity to get to know each other.

I will need to know by Monday 29th December at the very latest please. Closer to the day I will probably need to ask for your menu choices (the Walnut Tree does change its pre-booking requirements every now and then) so you might want to have a look at the pub’s website for menus and directions before that. http://www.walnuttreepub.co.uk/
