Weekly Update

We had another entertaining club evening yesterday with Paul Alistair Collins starting with Svalbard: Life on the Cold Edge. At 78 degrees north, lying between Norway and the North Pole, Svalbard’s unique landscape and wildlife make it an irresistible destination for photographers. Paul took us on a photographic journey across land and sea, fjords and tundra, celebrating the best of Arctic wildlife under the midnight sun – from Arctic Foxes hunting seabirds, to the courtship rituals of Red-Throated Diver and Ptarmigan.This was followed by a whistle-stop tour of Europe’s greatest wildlife destinations, and the stories behind the photos – from eagles in the Spanish Pyrenees, and wolves  Italy’s Abruzzo, to pelicans on Lake Kerkini and grey seals off Norfolk’s coast.
