Weekly update
This week’s Newsletter comes to you from Blackburn, Lancashire, where Chichester and New Forest Camera Clubs represented the Southern Counties Photographic Federation (SCPF) in the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain’ (PAGB’s) annual Inter-Club Print Championship. The top 2 clubs from each region represent the 15 Federations, so these are the top 30 clubs from about 1,000 across Britain. Each club enters 15 prints and 3 judges award up to 5 points to each print, making a maximum of 15. Awards of 5 are rare, so 12 is a very good total score and only one or two images will score 15. The scores from each club’s 15 prints are aggregated to determine the winners.
Rolls Royce Derby and Catchlight CC were equal first and Wigan took third place. Prints from Jim Munday, Glyn Edmunds, Julia Wainwright (2) and Chris Gledhill scored 12, so particular congratulations to them.
The featured image shows the flurry of activity as clubs decide which images to enter into the parallel competition for the Terry Chapman Plate Trophy.
On Thursday we saw some wonderful images of fungi, dragonflies and water birds from Ian Hutchinson. This was only the second time he had presented them in this way, so we were privileged to see them.
Some reminders: the deadline for the 1st Club/intermediate print competition is Thursday 26th October. Prints must be in 40×50 mounts and a corresponding PDI must be entered in PhotoComp. The Digital Group will meet at Tangmere on 31st October (not the 24th shown in the programme). The deadline for the first round of the Small Print competition is 2nd November. Entries should go to Madeleine Craggs in John Strickland’s absence. There will be a photowalk in Brighton on Saturday 11th November. Please let me know at mailto:chair@chichestercameraclub.org.uk if interested.
We need new prints for the Hospice, so please bring them to Tangmere on a Thursday evening during November.
