Weekly update
Last night, Professor David Wheeler gave us a fluent and impressive presentation of why he holds an EFIAP diamond 3 distinction, which requires 50 different images to have won at least 200 awards in salons in 10 different countries. He also became the youngest-ever Fellow of the RPS at age 23. His initial interest was in landscapes but after a 10 year break to accommodate his family and medical career, he has concentrated on people. Many of his images were created at living museums, using models in period dress and were an object lesson in composition, simplicity and the creative management of light. One of these is featured.
Next week will be the first competition of the season, with the 1st Club/Intermediate PDI event. It has proved so popular that the Intermediate entries have had to be culled, meaning that only 2 images per person could be accepted. Even so, there will be 74 images for the judge to review. Any non-accepted images can be entered in a subsequent competition, in either print or PDI form.
The submission deadline for the 1st Advanced PDI competition is 12th October. This may also need to be culled, so please remember to enter your images in PhotoComp in your preferred order – best first.
We need more people to propose votes of thanks to our speakers and judges. Please do your bit and volunteer at mailto:chair@chichestercameraclub.org.uk
For those in need of a break, John Harden is offering workshops in Cuba. See http://PhotoZoomCuba.com
