Weekly update
The Annual Exhibition got off to a great start at last night’s Preview. Lots of members and guests and a very good atmosphere. Congratulations again to all our trophy winners and particularly to the winners of the two awards decided by popular vote. Michael Palmer FRPS won the Coath Cup as Photographer of the Year (pictured receiving the impressive trophy from Club President, David Abbott) and Sarah Nichol won the Edmunds Cup for always going the extra mile for the Club. Two new Life Members were also elected, as a reflection of all they have done for the Club over many years. Pete Bamforth and Pietro Rocchiccioli have joined that elite group, with grateful thanks from us all. Thanks also to Ken Scott for his first-class judging.
The Exhibition was opened formally by our Patron, the Mayor of Chichester. He admits to being a “lapsed” photographer, with a particular interest in macro and the evening has spurred him into picking up his camera again. Our Membership Secretary has him in her sights!
Congratulations to Jim Munday on his EFIAP/gold award – see below.
The new season is approaching fast and we need more members to contribute actively to the Club’s management. Specifically, there is a vacancy on the Management Committee, so please let me know at mailto:chair@chichestercameraclub.org.uk if you would be willing to help in this way.
The Friends of Chichester Harbour and the Final Straw Foundation are running a photographic competition with the theme ‘Celebrating Chichester Harbour’. First prize is £500 and entries close on 30th September 2023. Details are available at https://friendsch.org/
