Weekly update

Last night we welcomed Lara Jackson to the club as our guest speaker who provided us with a thought provoking and fascinating talk on her work in animal conservation and how photography serves as a conduit in raising awareness of the difficulties faced by those trying to preserve endangered species. The talk was a refreshing blend of photographic interest with some beautiful and original images and information on the work she has been involved with globally in the conservation sector. From Kenya to India and Peru following various projects and species in danger (her main interest is the Rhino) we were presented with some striking (and sad) images taken in her own style, tempered by some very sombre statistics. Closer to home we saw her work on Mull with Otters, Puffins and seabirds, where she offers courses.  See https://www.larawildlife.co.uk/

We have a busy week coming up. There is a photowalk at the Tate Modern tomorrow (Saturday 10th). The PAGB Group will meet on Monday 12th January. This will also be the last chance to enter the 2nd Advanced print competition. The deadline has been extended to 8pm on the 12th, so please deliver your prints to Peter Rocchiccioli at Tangmere. On Tuesday 13th January, the Image and Presentation Group will meet and on Thursday we will be hosting the SCPF PDI League, which will be judged by Rosemary Wilman, Hon. FRPS.
