SCPF Exhibition Results

On Sunday a group of us travelled to Sparsholt to help with the SCPF Exhibition judging. This was judged by John Tilsley ARPS DPAGB APAGB, who will be at the club on 4th December to judge the next Advanced PDI competition. Prints were judged in the morning and the PDIs after lunch. The whole day ran very smoothly, and the judging was completed by 2pm.

In the prints there were 28 clubs competing with six prints each. We were awarded the Woolston Shield for the best club entry with 58.5 points (which included four 10s), Winchester were second with 58 points, then Yateley third with 56 points.

We also picked up four individual awards:

  • “Dalmatian Pelican” by Ann McDonald was awarded the Herbert Dennis Trophy for the best colour print
  • “Iridescent Starlings” by Julia Wainwright was awarded third place
  • “Iberian Lynx Kittens Playfighting” by Ian Roberts was Highly Commended
  • “Sparrowhawk with Starling” by Jim Munday was also Highly Commended

In the PDIs there were 33 clubs competing with 8 PDIs each. Three clubs ended up with the same score of 73 points so they used a countback to try to separate them. We were awarded the Federation Shield for the best club entry as we had scored two 10s, Highcliffe & Infinity and Wareham each had a single 10 but had identical scores so were awarded joint 2nd place.

We also had two individual awards:

  • “Wet Kestrel Walking” by Ian Roberts was awarded third place
  • “Hoopoe Deliveroo” by Phil Shaw was Highly Commended

This is the second year running that we have won both the Woolston Shield and the Federation Shield so it is another exceptionally good set of results for the club.

The latest SCPF Newsletter lists all the club and individual awards and includes details about the SCPF Exhibition, which will be in Salisbury Library and opens to the public on 6th January, running until 31st January. You can read the newsletter here.
