PAGB Inter-Federation Competition
On Saturday the New Forest Camera Club hosted the annual PAGB Inter-Federation competition and some of our members went along to assist with the judging and print sorting. This is a print-only competition between all fifteen of the Federations that are affiliated with the PAGB and the judging was held behind closed doors.
Each federation had to provide twenty prints in each of three categories – Colour, Mono & Nature. Each print was marked by three judges, scoring between 2 and 5 and giving a total score between 6 and 15. Each Federation’s total was arrived at by summing the top fifteen scores in each category. The three judges were Sue Sibley (SCPF), Adrian Lines (LCPU) and David Smith (SPA), who recently judged our Annual Exhibition.
The Colour Print competition was won by the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union with 187 points while our Federation (the SCPF) were 9th with 171 points. The SCPF fared better in the Mono Print competition finishing in 4th place with 172 points but Lancashire and Cheshire won that too with 178 points. The SCPF won the Nature Print competition with 186 points, with six of their highest scoring prints coming from Chichester Camera Club, including “Eurasian Hoopoe Feeding Chick” by Ian Roberts, which scored 14 – the highest score in the competition – and received the PAGB Gold medal for the best image in the Nature competition.
