PAGB Inter-Club Print Championship
Last Saturday a group of us were at Blackburn for the PAGB Inter-Club Print Championships, where we were one of two clubs representing the SCPF.
This is a competition in two parts – Round 1 in the morning decides which of the two final competitions each club competes in after lunch. There were 37 clubs taking part with each club submitting twelve images, so the three judges had to mark 444 prints before lunch. The top eight clubs from Round 1, along with any ties, went through to the Final while the rest competed in the Plate competition.
The Final is always dominated by some of the best clubs in the country such as Smethwick, Catchlight, Wigan 10 and Rolls Royce Derby and this year the overall winners were Catchlight Camera Club from Northern Ireland, winning it for the fourth time in a row.
Our Round 1 scores put us in the Plate competition which was won by Wrekin Arts Photography Club with a total of 113 points – an average mark of over 14 per print (out of 15). Our eight prints scored a total of 99 points, and we came 18=. That is the highest score we’ve ever had in the Plate competition, and 18th is the best position we’ve achieved since 2017.
Ian Roberts had our best score with a 14 for “Eurasian Hoopoe Feeding Chick” and we also had 13s for Julia Wainwright’s “Flying Rugby Tackle” and Jim Munday’s “Sparrowhawk with Starling”.
The full results can be found on the PAGB website here, and a PDF format catalogue of the top scoring images from both final competitions can be found here.
