January 29 Antony Penrose – Lee and LEE The Making of the movie’ and ‘Back Stage at the Lee Miller Archives’. The behind-the-scenes story.

Next Thursday we welcome Antony Penrose, son of Lee Miller and Roland Penrose to our club. Antony co-directs the Lee Miller Archives and provides unique, behind-the-scenes insights into the 2024 film Lee, which stars Kate Winslet. He chronicles his mother’s transformation from a Vogue model to a pioneering Surrealist photographer and WW11 war correspondent, highlighting her courage, trauma, and complex legacy. Given the subject matter please note that a few of the images may be disturbing. However, Lee Miller used her camera to document the aftermath of war as a witness to the liberation of concentration camps like Buchenwald and Dachau, ‘giving voice to the voiceless’.
