PAGB Group Meeting Monday 5th September

The PAGB Group will meet on Monday 5th September in the small hall in Tangmere, 7.00pm for a prompt start. Please come early to help set up.

This will be a busy season for the group. On 30th October we will host a PAGB Awards for Photographic Merit Advisory Day. This will be led by ROD WHEELANS and members of the APM Team. The workshop is intended for those who are thinking of applying for one of the PAGB Awards for Photographic Merit, CPAGB, DPAGB and MPAGB. Several  of our group members will be participating in the workshop with a view to submitting panels for the Distinction Adjudications next April.

In addition to preparing for the PAGB Distinctions the group members will also be encouraged to enter the National and International Salons of Photography. In the last couple of years the group has had considerable success, with countless awards and acceptances for members. These successes led to six of the group members being awarded FIAP Distinctions last season. We hope to build on these achievements in the coming season.

Annual Exhibition – Favourite Print Draw

We gave our visitors a challenge asking them to pick a favourite print and the outcome was a very wide ranging selection!  All exhibitors received some votes and it was a close run thing for the top three places.

Mike Hancock’s  Rising Mist at Jasna Lake  came third, Jean Brooks Three Sighted Mice came second with Kim Tattersall’s Serenity in first place.  Well done all three!

Our visitor Sue Hindell is the winner of the voting slip draw and will receive a £40 book voucher.  Sue’s own favourite was Ray Acland’s image from the Western Isles.

Annual Exhibition thanks

Many, many thanks to everyone who helped in whatever way to make the Annual Exhibition another great success.  Whether that help was with stewarding, catering, baking, setting up and taking down, helping with the judging and selection, distributing publicity or submitting your work – your help and involvement is invaluable and greatly appreciated.

Stephen Marsh, a previous Exhibition Secretary, asks to send his congratulations , ‘to all those members involved in the planning of the Exhibition who got the show on the road this year. I know only to well how much work is involved.’

Feedback from our visitors was very positive, with many comments about the quality of the work, and lots of comments about how hard it was to decide on a favourite. It was good to see such a wide distribution of votes for ‘my favourite print’, with every exhibitor  gaining some votes.  It was a close run thing – watch this space for the results and for the lucky visitor selected from the draw to win the £40 book voucher!

You might like to note that next year the exhibition will be a week earlier (due to a prior booking at the Assembly Room) – the exact dates will be confirmed shortly.

Jan Davis, our outgoing Chair, received Simcox Landscape Trophy and the Read Cup for best Landscape and Portrait in the print section and is seen here with our Patron, the Right Worshipful, The Mayor of Chichester, Cllr Peter Budge who made the presentations at the Preview Evening
