Weekly update

Sorry this week’s Newsletter is a bit late. I’ve been visiting my old school in Yorkshire for their end-of-year festivities, including the traditional cricket match between pupils and alumni – evidence attached.

The Annual Exhibition is approaching fast and Lorna has provided below a very helpful guide to how it all works. It illustrates how much preparatory work goes into the event and why it is so highly regarded by visitors. Many thanks to all those who have devoted so much time and skill to making it happen. It also reminds me that I have a speech to prepare!

On other matters, The Imaging Science Group of the RPS will be holding their annual ‘Good picture’ symposium at the University of Westminster on Saturday 7th December 2024. The day comprises a series of lectures covering some of the technical aspects of imaging. Topics this year range from photographing plant behaviour to how driverless cars ‘see’ their surroundings. The day costs £74, including a buffet lunch. Details from the organiser, Dr Mike Christianson at Mailto:pandm.christianson@gmil.com

Adam Lee and Colin McPherson will be running their 2 day ‘On assignment’ course on the Hebridean island of Easdale in August. The event was featured in the Times on Saturday 29th June and demonstrates how to photograph a magazine-style commission, using portraiture, landscapes and scenes of daily life to illustrate life on Easdale. The cost is £495, including food and accommodation. Details are at https://www.easdale-experiences.com/creatively-re-set-your-photography-with-colin-and-adam/
