Thursday 13th October
Our competition rounds kicked off last night, if not quite as planned. Most members will know there was a dreadful accident on the A27 yesterday afternoon that brought traffic to a halt. Linda Bullimore, our Small Print Secretary, was very delayed (well done Linda for getting through at all!) and so the 1st Round of the Small Print Competition will take place next week.
Fortunately our judge for the evening, Roy Lambeth, with his wife Lynne, had set off really early and we were very pleased to welcome both of them for Roy’s judging of the 1st Advanced PDI Competition.
The results of that are separately posted – and let’s take a moment to thanks Jeff Owen both for introducing the Photocomp system that has made life so much easier for uploading images, and for his really speedy processing of those after competitions. The results were posted by 11pm last night – thank you Jeff!
And a very well done to Ronnie Hall who made a strong start to the season with two of her wonderful images from world music performances scoring 10!
Roy Lambeth is a very experienced and respected judge, and as Ann McDonald noted in her vote of thanks, Roy’s judging is an education. His critique of images is to the point, referencing use of light, focus, cropping and the like while being clear about why he is marking images down. We look forward to seeing Roy again as part of the SCPF / PAGB Workshop the Club is hosting on Sunday 30th October.
We were delighted to hear from Peter Rocchiccioli that Sheila Tester had been awarded a certificate of acceptance at the PAGB Annual Exhibition for the Inter-federation Open Colour Print for her splendid image, A Group of Mycena with Spider. Excellent news to have Chichester Camera Club represented at such a high level – very many congratulations Sheila!
Ronnie Hall’s PDI Buika scored 10 in the Advanced PDI Competition
