Chair

Hi All,

Wendy Chalk. You’ll be pleased to hear that the final send off for Wendy was a wonderful occasion. Hearing from family members and friends it was very clear she was a remarkable person and will be sadly missed. The most touching moment was when an air ambulance helicopter did a fly by over Chichester Marina and then hovered and dipped its nose as a very fitting tribute to one of their own.

AGM. We had a very good AGM last night with all proposals agreed. The big issue for the club, are vacancies in the following committee and post holder positions. Vice chair and Programme secretary on the committee, Publicity secretary and Regnum Crouch/Sussex Fed Rep posts.

Both committee posts are vital for the club, in particular the programme secretary, and need to be filled as soon as possible, so once again I’m asking members to consider volunteering. There is a mass of support available so volunteers will be fully assisted in the roles.

Cups. The return date for cups/trophies is the 26th of this month. If you have one please bring it to the meeting on the 26th, or arrange for it to be there, as we need to give David Abbot plenty of time to get them engraved.

The 26th is also the closing date for members to vote for the recipients of the Coath cup for photographer of the year, and the Edmund cup for the person you feel has contributed the most to the club over the year. Your votes can be made using this link. chair@chichestrcameraclub.org.uk

Annual Exhibition. Just a reminder that the closing date for entries is the 19th so please make a final effort to enter. Also I invite any member who has had successes in the recent past, to submit any items, such as press articles etc, for our information board at the exhibition. The provisional closing date for this is the 1st July.

Next week is the 3rd Club/Inter print competition. Entries are a little low so our judge has kindly agreed to spend a little extra time over each image and is happy to enter into a dialogue with the photographer if they so wish. It would be an opportunity for the photographer to explain what they feel they are trying to present in the image and a vehicle to understand how it might be improved. It is optional and not obligatory but could be a useful learning exercise.

That’s all for now so stay safe.

Mike
