Members enjoyed Tuesday’s Print Group which looked particularly at the idea of ‘competition images’ and the sort of criteria judges look for. With the deadline for submitting the first print competition entries for Beginner and Intermediate workers only two weeks away (Thursday 26th November), newer members found this especially useful.
Charlie Roe brought along some of the wonderful images by Charlie Simcox, including photographs of Chichester in the 1950s and a superb portrait dating back to 1942, which we greatly enjoyed seeing.
Next month we will be looking at the different types of print papers and how they can affect the look of the image, as well as, as always, images in every state of development that members would welcome comments and advice on. And, it being the last meeting before Christmas, there will of course be mince pies!
It’s Print Group on Tuesday 10th November and with the first Beginners and Intermediate Print Competition coming up soon, a good opportunity to bring along prints you are considering entering.
Everyone is welcome, and all kinds of images – whether that first thoughts on new work, pieces in development or final prints you would like to show and discuss with others.
Work doesn’t have to be mounted or full size, but attached to card helps keep prints upright for viewing. If you’d like to just come along to see what the group does you will also be very welcome. 7.30pm in the small hall at Tangmere Village Centre.
An enjoyable Print Group last night – with some brave new members who shared their images with us for helpful comments,. Pete Bamforth brought along his latest print book, a record of his recent visits to Birmingham. Pete’s images are always stunning, and this latest superb A3 publication from Aperture took advantage of the 50% reduction Aperture offers Club members and friends in the Annual Exhibition catalogue. You’ll have to be quick to use the voucher code – it expires at the end of the month.
Print Group meets again on 10th November – do join us!
The Print Group meets again on Tuesday 13th October in the small hall at Tangmere Village Centre at 7.30pm All are welcome – including non-members. Bring along your work in progress, new work, old work, images you’re pleased with and those you don’t think are quite right for friendly and constructive group comment. No need to mount pictures or produce full size, but stuck to card just to give some support is useful. If you’d like to just sit in and watch what happens at these meetings you’ll also be very welcome.
