Reminders and Upcoming Events

Club and Intermediate members can now register their PDIs on the website for our first Club and Intermediate PDI Competition of the season. We would love to see your entries! Please remember that submissions close at 23:59 on Thursday 22nd October. The images will be critiqued by our judge, Keith Wilkinson, on Thursday 5th November.

This Weekend: 10th–11th October

Amberley Museum presents “Steampunk Weekend”, offering plenty of wonderful photo opportunities.

Tuesday 13thOctober, Image Review Group, 19:15 for a 19:30 start

Come along to the PAGB Special Interest Group evening for a friendly and informative look at the standard of images needed for the available accreditations. Using members’ images, we will share practical tools and techniques to help you evaluate your own work and identify ways to strengthen it—whether for competition or simply for your own enjoyment. After a break and a chance to chat, our short talk will be “Preparing PDIs for Competition”.

Please send projected images to imagegroup@chichestercameraclub.org.uk by the end of Sunday 11th October, and bring prints along on the night.

Everyone is warmly welcome, whether you submit images or simply come along to learn, share ideas and enjoy the evening.

Thursday 15th October Club Night

We are delighted to welcome Celia Henderson, who will present “Contemporary Flower Photography”. Celia is an IT lecturer whose day job includes delivering workshops and training programmes.

Saturday 17th October SIG Camera Craft Photowalk: Chichester,

Join us for a Composition Challenge photowalk around Chichester—a relaxed and enjoyable opportunity to experiment with composition. Smartphone cameras are ideal, although you are very welcome to bring another camera if you prefer. It is also a lovely chance to catch up with fellow club members, share ideas and enjoy taking photographs together. More details are available on the website.

Club Night: Thursday 8th October

We were delighted to welcome guest judge Glyn Paton for our first Advanced PDI Competition. Glyn had the considerable task of critiquing 69 PDIs and held back 18 images. Six images received 9 points, six received 9½ points and six received 10 points. He humorously gave himself the nickname “Mr Cropper”, helping to make it a very enjoyable evening.

Interested in Infrared Photography Wednesday 14th October?

Littlehampton Camera Club is hosting a talk by Paul O’Toole on infrared photography at the Methodist Church Hall, Claigmar Road, Rustington, BN16 2NL. Please arrive at 19:15 for a 19:30 start. Admission is £6, payable on the door. Everyone interested is very welcome.

North Mundham.

It may seem early, but we would like to give Advanced members plenty of notice about our exhibition over the weekend of 6th–7th February 2027.

We would also be very grateful for a volunteer to take over from Sarah Nichol in organising and managing the catering for this event. After generously looking after this for us, Sarah is ready to hang up her apron and pass the role on. If you might be interested, we would love to hear from you.

We have also reserved two panels for Advanced members who would like to take on a fun creative challenge. We would love to see your images for possible inclusion—the only requirement is that each image must have been taken with a toy camera.

Resizing Images for Competitions

If you are new to competitions, resizing images can sometimes feel a little daunting—but help is at hand. We hope to organise a friendly, step-by-step Zoom webinar for anyone who would appreciate a little extra guidance and confidence. If you are interested, please let Jeff Owen or Peter Farrelly know.

Treasurer

We are looking for a member to take over as Treasurer from Brian Muir. If you would be willing to consider this important role, or would simply like to find out more about what it involves, please speak to Peter Farrelly or David Pritchard. We would be very pleased to hear from you.

RPS

There is some important new guidance to share.

At the next RPS and Projects SIG meeting on 20th October, Lorna will explain how the new guidance may affect anyone interested in seeking RPS accreditation. It will be a helpful opportunity to ask questions and consider the next steps together.

The new guidance is also available for everyone to view on the RPS website.
