I am pleased to announce that Chris Worsley is our new Vice Chair. I would also like to thank David Pritchard for his work with the Management Committee and for helping to get the appointment ratified.
There are only 12 days until our first club night at Tangmere. Unfortunately, I cannot attend, but our new vice chair, Chris Worsley, will be there to welcome you. Thank you to Chris for volunteering. The club also needs help with our Thursday Night and Special Interest Group meetings. Some tasks, such as setting up chairs and tables, require a reasonable level of fitness, but others—preparing the tea break, putting out milk, sugar, cups and glasses, loading and unloading the dishwasher, and serving drinks—are straightforward jobs that all need doing. We would really appreciate your support.
Some of you may not be aware that certain venues we hope to visit are now restricting what visitors can bring into events. Motorsport venues and festivals, in particular, are beginning to include notices like this in their entry terms and conditions: “We do not allow professional cameras into the arena. We consider any camera with a detachable or interchangeable lens, or a fixed lens longer than 6 inches, to be a professional camera.” This does not apply to every event, but it is worth checking before you go.
This leads nicely into our first evening at the club on Thursday 3rd September, when Jeanette Lendon—also known to her friends as Jet—will give a talk on “Smartphone Photography”.
Finally, competitions are coming up, so please check your trifolds and the website for more information. Let’s give our judges a real challenge and make them earn their money!
Keep making those images—and thank you to Paul Adams for the phrase.
