This is my first newsletter as Chair of Chichester Camera Club, and I am delighted to be writing to you as we look ahead to the new season.
Another successful Annual Exhibition has now concluded, and we can look forward to the start of the new season, with meetings, competitions and photo walks all on the horizon.
Our new season begins on Thursday 3rd September 2026 at 19:30.
Jeanette (Jet) Lendon will be presenting “Smartphone Photography”.
Madeliene will provide an update regarding the proposed new members open hour, to be held at the Tangmere Village Centre at 18:30 preceding our first meeting.
Meanwhile, I have been reviewing the votes cast in the favourite print contest from the Annual Exhibition. It was a close contest between three of our members, and I am now checking the voting slips to ensure every vote has been recorded. A £40 gift token will be awarded to the photographer whose image was voted the most popular print. One lucky member of the public who voted for that print will also receive a £40 gift token. The winners will be announced at our first meeting on 3rd September.
In total, 873 votes were cast by 1,657 attendees.
After double-checking the votes, we now know which club member has won the favourite print contest.
As a side contest, the votes cast for each panel have also been calculated. All will be revealed at our first meeting of the season.
For anyone interested, the London Open House Festival returns from 12 to 20 September 2026, opening the doors to hundreds of buildings, homes, workplaces and spaces across the capital. Please check the Open House Festival website for details.
In conjunction with the special interest groups, we hope to organise a trip to Bushy Park towards the end of September. More details will follow. The deer cull will take place for six weeks from Tuesday 1st September, which will restrict weekday access: pedestrian and vehicle gates will not open until 08:00. On Saturdays and Sundays, the gates open at 06:30, although park runs and other events are often taking place. Bushy Park is home to many red and fallow deer, and the rutting season runs from late September to early November. As a bonus, Hampton Court and the River Thames are both only a 15-minute stroll away. Please check the Bushy Park and Hampton Court websites for more information.
