Reminders and Upcoming Events

Club and Intermediate members: our first print competition of the season is approaching, and we encourage you to submit your entries. Please submit your images by 23:59 on Thursday 5^th November. Judge Carol Walker will critique the entries on Thursday 19^th November.

Sunday 25th October — Presentation of the Best AV Sequences from This Year’s AV Championship, 14:00–17:00

Members are invited to attend an online presentation showcasing the best AV sequences entered in this year’s AV Championship. Chichester is represented by Mike Taylor this year.

The sequences will be presented with commentary from judge David Smith LRPS CPAGB of the SPA. The programme features a wide range of superb images in well-crafted and entertaining AV presentations. In addition to highly commended awards and prizes for the top three AVs, awards will be presented for Best Original Soundtrack, Best Photography and Best Photo Harmony Sequence. The leading clubs, including the winner of the Oak Leaf Salver, will also be announced.

We hope to submit a club entry next year, which will require an AV sequence featuring work from at least three members.

Tuesday 27^th October — Camera Craft SIG, 18:45 for a 19:15 start

Please join us for the next Camera Craft session on Tuesday. We will share images from the photowalk, after which Linda will discuss composition and explain how she has used projects to prepare for exhibitions. Chris will explore how mini-projects can help photographers progress from conscious incompetence to conscious competence. Gary Howes will also share his photographic journey from Club to Advanced class within the club.

Thursday 29^th October — Club Night

We are delighted to welcome Gillian Lloyd, who will present “Walking with Polar Bears”. Few people have the opportunity to observe polar bears in the wild, making this a particularly special presentation.

1st Advanced Print Competition — Thursday 22^nd October

Judge Rob Bonfield critiqued 60 images. He held back 20 for further review and ultimately awarded the top score of 10 points to six photographers: Ian Roberts, Clive Blott, Andy Dulson, David Harris, Michael Palmer and Mike Taylor. Congratulations to all six.

Other News

Congratulations also to seven new members whose images have now been classified, enabling them to enter club competitions. Three may compete in the Intermediate class, while four may enter Club competitions.
