The Small Print Competition 2024-25, for Club Class members only, starts soon.
This year the Small Print Competition will be judged at the Print Group meeting, the 1st round being judged on Tuesday 8th October at the Tangmere village hall, 7.15 for 7.30 start in the small hall.
The Small Print Competition is intended to give Club Class members who have neither the facilities or inclination to participate in the “full scale” print competitions a chance to match their work against others of like mind. These prints can be from film or digital files (from cameras or phone cameras) that were printed in standard commercial processors such as Boots, Jessops, etc. New members should be aware that they need to have been assessed as Club Class beforehand.
Any Club Class member can enter (except previous winners) by submitting up to three prints in each round that have not been digitally altered through programs such as Photoshop. Minimal cropping and normal colour correction is allowed. Prints should be no larger than 7 x 5inches and no smaller than 6 x 4 inches, and should be un-mounted with the entrants name and image title on the reverse (with the use of a self adhesive label to avoid damage to the print).
A series of heats will be held during the season and a number of prints will be held back from each heat for the final. These will be ranked as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the final, the winner and first two runners-up are then entitled to display their images at the Clubs Annual Exhibition. The author of the winning image will be awarded the Ada Tyler Cup at the end of the season. The last submission date for entries is Thursday 3rd October.
Its a great way of getting feedback, encouragement and experience, for composition, lighting, exposure, etc, without breaking the bank. For more information on The Small Print Competition, refer to John Strickland (Small Print Secretary)
