LAST CALL for Ladies’ Little Christmas – Friday 5th January

Dear Ladies of the Club

This is the last call for the Ladies traditional Christmas celebration, details below. Please if you would like to join us and haven’t yet let me know, do so via rpsgroup@chichestercameraclub.org.uk by close of play next Tuesday, 2nd January.

It has been our habit (pandemics permitting) to meet for our Little Christmas Celebration at Epiphany, or as close to the 6th January as we can sensibly get. For our new members, Women’s Christmas is an ancient tradition once widely celebrated especially in northern Europe and which, as Nollaig na mBan, is still marked in Ireland. The idea being that the women who have been so busy over Christmas get a day off and the men take over the household chores, although I have heard that this aspect of the day hasn’t always been as fully supported by some of our menfolk as might be liked. Let’s not judge…

You can read more here https://www.theirishroadtrip.com/little-christmas-nollaig-na-mban/ with some rather sweet illustrations, if rather unlike our own gathering.

We will meet this coming January on Friday 5th, at the Walnut Tree in Runcton at 12 noon. It is a great chance for the ladies to get together, share a meal and drink (or two), and a particularly good opportunity to get to know each other.

In the first instance, please let me know if you would like to join us via rpsgroup@chichestercameraclub.org.uk so that I can book the table. I will need to know by Tuesday 2nd January at the very latest please. Closer to the day I will probably need to ask for your menu choices (the Walnut Tree does change its pre-booking requirements every now and then) so you might want to have a look at the pub’s website for menus and directions before that. http://www.walnuttreepub.co.uk/

In the meantime, here’s to a very happy Christmas and a photographically productive New Year!
