Reminders and Upcoming Events

Tuesday 10 November – Image Review Group

New to the Club? We’d love you to join us at the Image Review Group. Come along to the TVC main hall from 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start for a friendly evening of reviewing and improving your photographs. Please arrive early to help set up.

We’ll explore members’ images together and share practical ways to assess and strengthen your photographs, whether for competitions or personal enjoyment. It’s a welcoming opportunity for new members to join the conversation and learn alongside others.

Please email projected images to imagegroup@chichestercameraclub.org.uk by the end of Sunday 8 November. Bring prints on the night.

PAGB Master of Print – Club entries

Peter Rocchiccioli is coordinating the Club’s entries and will take them on Sunday 29 November.

Please give Peter your entries by Thursday 19 November. No extensions are possible.

The fee is £3.00 per print, payable in cash with your prints. Each entrant may submit up to five entries.

Submit prints on A3 paper, unmounted, and send Peter a PDI of each image in JPEG format. Each PDI must measure2400 pixels on its longer side, whether landscape or portrait, with a maximum file size of 3,500kb.

This larger–than–usual image size is required for the catalogue.

Please note that prints will not be returned.

Peter needs the PDIs to upload with your entries. Include your full name, each image title and its category: Colour, Mono or Nature.

Entry conditions:

Each photographer must belong to an affiliated Club and may enter only once.

Entries through the PAGB Group are therefore open only to Chichester Camera Club members.

The PAGB seeks unfamiliar work rather than images with an exhibition history.

Images are ineligible if they have appeared at a National or PAGB event, been published in an exhibition catalogue (including DVD or online catalogues), or been accepted in any category of a previous Masters of Print competition.

Images remain eligible if they have been shown only within your Club, at local inter-Club competitions, or within your Federation.

As an exception, images used in a Club entry to the PAGB Inter-Club Print and/or PDI Championships in the same calendar year as the Masters of Print entry are eligible.

Petworth Park photowalk

Join Clare Gordon-Pullar for a photowalk in Petworth Park on Saturday 14 November to photograph the autumn colours and see the deer. Meet at 9am in the north car park. To join, email photowalks@chichestercameraclub.org.uk; I’ll then send the usual risk analysis.

North Mundham exhibition

North Mundham applications are now open. Submit your application form and payment by 10 December. Forms are available at the Club and will be online later.

The website is open for North Mundham PDI submissions. Entries close on 31 December.

For newer members and first-time exhibitors, North Mundham is a well-established, popular exhibition attracting hundreds of visitors from across the region. Advanced members may exhibit in the format in which they hold Advanced status: prints, PDIs or both. Club and Intermediate members can exhibit in April. All our exhibitions are Club events, and everyone is welcome to share photo books, regardless of competition classification.

There is no selection or judging, so you can be creative without the usual print-mounting size rules. Choose one, two or three display panels, or a wooden print stand. Full details are in the application forms.

This year’s Toy Camera Challenge is an extra opportunity alongside your exhibition screens. There are no rules: explore the weird and wonderful results you can create with a toy camera, either in-camera or through post-processing.

Tuesday 17 November – arrive at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start

Alongside our continuing support for RPS distinctions, November’s session will explore my Industrial Remains project. Created for North Mundham, it is smaller in scope than John’s extensive work and reflects my fascination with now-desolate places that once thrived with industry.

We’ll also begin exploring a possible AV project about our Annual Exhibition, using prints by Nikki Holden and storyboarding. Bring work if you’re ready, or simply come along to see what we do.

Tuesday 17 November: arrive at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start.

Admission: £3 for Club members; £5 for visitors.

Club Night – Thursday 5 November

We welcomed Keith Wilkinson to judge the first Club and Intermediate PDI competition, which featured some fabulous images. It was especially encouraging to see new members sharing their work. As members on WhatsApp will have seen, most attendees disagreed with some of the scores, but please don’t let that discourage you from entering again. Taking part in competitions calls for resilience, and there was much to appreciate in the images on show. I considered quoting a Latin phrase from “The Handmaid’s Tale”—if you’ve read the book or watched the series, you may recognise it; otherwise, you can look it up.

Second Advanced Print competition

Online entries are now open for the 2nd Advanced Print competition.   The entries will close midnight on the 19th Nov, with the competition being held on the 3rd Dec.

Club Night Thursday November 10th

We welcome Caroline Preece who will present “From Convention to Creation”
(2nd in a series of 3)
