Annual Exhibition 2023

Hi everyone,

Forget all this miserable weather; it’s time to start thinking about summer, and summer means the Annual Exhibition. Yes August is not far away, and the working party has already started the work to plan the 2023 exhibition.

This is one of the biggest club exhibitions in southern England – both in terms of images displayed and visitor numbers and the committee would encourage everyone to get involved. For participants it’s an opportunity to have your work displayed in a very high quality exhibition, view amazing work from others, be inspired, eat scrumptious cake and socialise.

This year the exhibition will run at the Assembly Room, North Street, from Saturday August 5 to Saturday August 12, excluding Sunday August 6. The member’s preview evening will be Friday August 4, also at the Assembly Room.

Start planning your submission now. Key points:

  • It is open to all club members in all classes and all entrants are guaranteed at least one image will be displayed
  • You are allowed to enter 6 prints and 4 PDIs
  • You can show work that has been through the rigour of club competitions or work that is new
  • Photocomp will open for you to upload your images on March 15 – next week
  • Entry for both print and PDI images closes on May 18
  • There is a host of cups, awards and trophies to be won, so what ever your class or interest area – natural history, portraits, landscape, creative/artistic, monochrome  – you have a chance of winning
  • The renowned Sussex photographer, Ken Scott will be our judge this year and will be making his assessment on June 6
  • Unlike North Mundham or Spring exhibition, the images displayed are chosen by the Selection committee, so there is real prestige in getting your work included
  • As well as the images displayed, there are lots of jobs requiring volunteers to ensure it runs well – stewarding, serving refreshments, cake baking, the ‘heavy mob’ (you know who you are).  Getting involved is a great way to get to know other club members.

You can find lots of the key information in the guidance for entrants document, and there will be lots of further reminders between now and August to keep us all on our toes.

The club committee would really encourage your to think about entering, particularly if you have not done so before. Have a go.
