Weekly Update

AGM – thank you to all who attended the AGM. We managed the average number of members who attend the Thursday night meetings and therefore were easily quorate. We reflected on some of our successes of the year and challenges to come. I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate some of the Chair’s report.

Our Club is lucky in the number of very highly skilled people who are happy to contribute, especially those who lead our six special interest groups as well as our photo walks. This additional offer to members is what sets us aside from other clubs and provides great value for money. They are the pipeline to develop our photography, whether we go on to represent the club externally, gain RPS, FIAP or PAGB distinctions or simply improve and have fun with it. Thank you to all who contribute to these groups – it is very much appreciated.

I would like to thank those are who are stepping down this year as post holders: Sarah Nichol standing down from the Digital Group and Paul Adams standing down from the Developers’ Group – both leads of those all important SIGs. Matt Thompson and Jennie Anderson for their contribution on the management committee and Glyn Edmunds for his contribution to the selection committee. I would also like to add thanks to Ian Roberts, our PDI secretary who is also standing down. Ian is one of those who works behind the scenes who I neglected to mention at the AGM – my apologies Ian.

A volunteer club owes its existence to those who step up into these posts and also to those who help behind the scenes, especially the management committee. This volunteer ethos is what makes the community of our club. A great way of getting to know other members is to be part of this wider volunteer team and it helps us to ‘spread the load.’ If you feel you can help us with anything – publicity, governance, raising sponsorship, grant applications and of course sharing your photography expertise with others do volunteer – Thank you.
