Many congratulations to Alan Crisp who is one of our PAGB Group members who recently attained a distinction at BPAGB level. Our special interest groups continue to provide informative discussions and constructive feedback and it is well worth attending the RPS and PAGB groups as a way of developing your photography after, or as well, as you have seen what the Digital, Developers’ and Print and presentation Groups offer.

On Thursday members of CCC attended a presentation by Tony Worobiec. Tony studied fine art at The University of Newcastle upon Tyne and spent 18 years as head of a large design faculty in Dorset. He is a fine art photographer and a fellow of the RPS with his work in the permanent collection of the RPS, The Fox Talbot Museum and other international collections. Tony is a passionate traveller.

Tonys talk, Abandoned America was a fascinating insight into the abandoned immigrant farming communities of the High Plains of the USA. From decaying cars and infrastructure to haunting domestic interiors left behind intact by their owners years before, Tony showed us the odd beauty of such places and discussed some of the possible personal stories behind them. The images he showed were taken over many years, often returning to the same spot time and time again finding them entirely untouched. He also captured the vastness and isolation of the landscape with some magnificent landscape images giving us an idea as to what it might have been like to live and work in those places.
