Weekly update
Kieran Doherty stood-in for Jo Teasdale FRPS on Thursday, as she was unwell and he gave us one of the best Thursday evenings in a long time. Formerly a top photojournalist with the Reuters News Agency, covering major events around the world and capturing the essence of the situation in a single image, he produced incredibly powerful pictures which had quite a few members of the audience reaching for tissues. He decided to move away from the newsroom style of a single image to story-telling through a series of pictures and went freelance in 2008. Since then, his award-winning and very humanistic studies have ranged from bereaved families greeting soldiers killed in Afghanistan, as they arrived in Wootton Bassett, to spectators at Wimbledon, to his elderly parents during lockdown. An excellent evening – thank you Kieran.
Following the meeting, Kieran has mentioned that his prints are on special offer. Anything from his website, size up to A2, giclee or gelatin, £100 each + VAT and pp.
