Nicholas Eriksson is a Director of Photography working within the field of Motion Pictures, Music Videos and Commercials. During a relatively short period of time he has travelled extensively, working on projects throughout the UK and Europe, North America, Africa, the Middle East, India, and Asia, where he was previously based in Hong Kong
Recent projects such as Edward Carter’s ‘The Funeral Director’ and Michael Middleton-Downer’s ‘Top Hat’ have both received substantial international exposure.
During the summer of 2013, Nick began principal photography on his first feature film as Cinematographer. Entitled ‘A Dark Reflection’, the film is a conspiracy-thriller about the airline industry. Destined for a 2014 release, the film was shot over a 12-week period around the United Kingdom, with additional photography in Jordan.
A Dark Reflection
Some of our members saw this film back in February at New Park, the day after it was premiered in Horsham (where the director and his small film company – Fact Not Fiction Films – is based. The Cinematographer / Director of Photography, Nick Eriksson, is coming to talk to us on 7th January.
It‘s a drama / documentary about a very real problem, bleed air / Aerotoxic syndrome, whose very existence is denied by both the airlines and the CAA. Unless you fly on the new Dreamliner, all commercial aircraft use air from around the engines pumped in to the cabin. That’s fine until one or more seals of the bearings leak. Then an odourless cocktail of organo-phosphates is brought in to contact with the passengers and crew. Amazingly there are no sensors fitted to detect this problem. As the airlines deny their very existence, why would they fit any detectors ? If this problem does not exist why are flight crew being taken ill or in a few cases dying ? Tristan Loraine, the director, was a Captain with BA until neurological damage ended his flying career.
My plan had been to buy several copies of this thought-provoking film and distribute them to members so that they could see the film before the 7
th January. As we are in the 21
st century and the film had a limited release to selected cinemas, it is only available as a download. You can thus download it via either Amazon or iTunes – the former is much cheaper. Check out
