Chair

Hi All,

The featured image above, is of our sadly departed secretary Wendy Chalk in her role as the first female London’s Air Ambulance Paramedic. As you know Wendys funeral is the 12th May at 11:45. Chichester Crematorium. Then on to Chichester Yacht Club for the Wake. Dress code: what ever you’re comfortable in (Wendy hated formality!). Any donations in lieu of flowers to the charity Stonepillow – stonepillow.org. I’m asking again if any member who wishes to attend to please let me know as soon as possible using the following link. chair@chichestercameraclub.org.uk. Graham, her husband, needs to know for catering purposes at the wake. Currently we have five members representing the club.

Please see the post from Lorna regarding entry for the Annual Exhibition. It is so important to have enough prints to mount a successful exhibition and we need the support of all members to do so.

Rob De Ruiter the President of the BCC has mailed me this invite to our members.

‘As part of our programme of speakers this year Bognor Regis Camera Club have been able to arrange a talk by Clive Nichols on Tuesday evening 10th May at 7.30 entitled “The art of Garden and Flower Photography”. As I’m sure you may be aware, Clive Nichols has established a reputation as one of the world’s finest flower and garden photographers. His passion for the subject comes across in every image that he makes. Clive has photographed many of the world’s best gardens, including HRH The Prince of Wales’s own private garden in Scotland, Lord Rothschild’s private garden in Corfu and Lord Heseltine’s private garden in Oxfordshire. In addition his work has appeared in hundreds of books as well as in countless magazines, calendars and brochures. Over the past 25 years he has amassed a stunning collection of over 60,000 images. Clive regularly gives master classes in flower and garden photography for The Royal Horticultural Society and for the past 5 years he has been one of the two main judges for the prestigious ‘International Garden Photographer of the Year’ awards.
Clive has been extremely difficult to get hold of as he is much in demand. I’m sure this will be a very worthwhile evening and as such we would be pleased to welcome any of your members who may like to join us for this presentation – 7.15 for a 7.30 start. Tickets £5 on the door at the StMary’s Centre Felpham’.

Finally can I ask all members to consider voting for their choice to receive the Coath and Edmunds cups. Both these are awarded by members. The Coath cup is for Photographer of the year and the Edmunds cup for the the individual who has contributed most to the club in the past year, above the call of duty. Please vote using the link chair@chichestercameraclub.org.uk. For information, details of these awards were posted by our President in the newsletter of 25th April 2022.

Best regards

Mike
