Thursday 19th January

First call last night was a resounding ‘well done’ to everyone involved with the North Mundham Exhibition.  It was a very successful weekend, well received by our many visitors and a valuable fund-raiser as well.  Thanks to Ann McDonald and all contributors for the print raffle (£601 raised), to Sheila Tester and all her kitchen helpers (over £800 profit!), to Carmel Lynch and Mike Davison, aided and abetted by Lynne Owen for the Tombola, to Joan and Jon Barham for the Sales Table (another good income generator) to Jeff Owen for creating the TV show, to Cath Walter for the pre-event publicity, to Bill McKnight assisted by Sylvia and Jim Waddington, Jean Henwood and Joy Whiting for the evening meal and to all the exhibitors and helpers. I’m saving Iain McGowan and his right-hand man, Pete Bamforth to the end for our special thanks, without them it would not happen.

It was the second round of the Advanced Print Competitions last night, with Jim Pascoe as our judge.  With his wife, Nicky, Jim is a well-established professional photographer based in the New Forest. He’s a self-declared’people photographer’, and the last time he was with us he’d said he was a ‘sucker for a good portrait’.  He was certainly very kind about our images including a few portraits, and indeed complimentary about the Club, and happy to look out the images he personally liked best for the higher scores. Jim, who is an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society and the British Institute of Professional, is also a member of Highcliffe and Infinity Photographic Club, which was, as Jim told us, the winner at this year’s SCPF Exhibition (Chichester was joint second with Winchester). It was a good evening with some lovely images and a thorough judge who clearly enjoys seeing images and engaging with the stories he sees in them.

And just a note – due to the weather and other prevailing factors, some members had missed the deadline for the forthcoming Club and Intermediate Print Competitions.  John Dean and Jeff Owen have very kindly agreed to defer the deadline to next Thursday, 26th January, which is also the deadline for the deferred Small Print competition.

Andy Dulson’s Eartham Wood shown as a PDI at North Mundham scored 9.5 (as Woodland Reflections) in the 2nd Advanced Print Competition
