DESCRIPTION:We had a really lively Print Group in October\, with two members bravely showing work for the first time – and very good work it was too!   \nWe meet again on Tuesday 13th November\, and this month we will be considering in particular composition and images of water. You may of course – as always  –  bring along work in progress or work you would simply like to share of any sort\, but  particularly welcome will be images you feel demonstrate those rules of composition\, or indeed that successfully break those rules. \nAlso – at our last meeting we discussed the speeds required to freeze water or conversely\, to create those soft  or even milky images of moving water.  If you have examples and the camera speeds you used do bring those along.  About 8 images and backed with card (to help them stay on the stands) is suggested to ensure time for everyone. \nMembers who would just like to come along without showing work are also welcome – come along to get a feel for the group to see if it’s for you.  We meet at 7.30pm in the small hall at Tangmere\, with a cost of £3 for members and £4 for visitors. \n  \n \nSome Enchanted Evening by Brian Southward

DESCRIPTION:Pictures on a Page – Paul Sanders \nI am passionate about landscape photography. I love being outside surrounded by the beauty of the world we live in. It never ceases to amaze me\, as I watch the storm clouds blow in over the coast\, listen to the waves crashing against the rocky shores or watch sunlight stream through trees on a foggy morning\, how blessed and lucky we are to have such beauty on our doorsteps. \nRecently my work has been recognised by Fujifilm\, who inaugurated me into their exclusive X Series photographers . In addition to this honour I have been awarded Gold medals by the SWPP for my fine art and black and white images.

DESCRIPTION:1st Club/Int PDI Competition – Leo Rich HonPAGB EFIAP/g \n\n\n\n\nHe joined his first camera club in the 1970’s and began entering National and International Exhibitions shortly afterwards with reasonable success over the years.\n\n\n\n\nChanging from film to digital was a long process as he endeavours to emulate the success he had with slides by trying to “get it right in the camera” rather than in post computer manipulation.   He likes to photograph anything that takes his fancy but has veered towards “people” pictures and natural history following his many travels\, particularly in India.  He is heavily involved in the administration side of UK photography and has been President of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain which has approximately 1\,000 camera clubs affiliated with an estimated 40\,000 members.  He is in demand for both his judging\, both in UK and abroad\, and also his humorous talks based on his travels.

DESCRIPTION:The Print Group got of to a very lively start this season at our meeting in September and we were pleased to welcome new Club members.  Other than one brave soul our new members didn’t bring work this time\, which is fine\, but they are promising to do so in October.  Later in the season we will have meetings that look at specifics of the printed images\, but October will be a general meeting to simply share our images – perhaps with an eye on the forthcoming first print competitions this season. \nThe group is an ideal way to share your enjoyment in photography It’s all about the end product so we cover composition\, cropping\, content and also look at the ways different papers will affect the finished picture. You’ll pick up lots of tips too\, on camera technique and post proccessing. \nJust bring along your favourite images to share\, or perhaps work in progress. If you’d like to different ideas about images that just aren’t coming together as you’d like\, the Print Group is an ideal place for you.  You’ll also be very welcome to just come along to find out more about the group without bringing work to show. \nThe group is open to all photographers\, whether new or advanced\, and is an easy way in to learn about critique and chat to other Club members about work. \nWe meet on the second Tuesday of the month in the small hall at Tangmere Village Centre\, at 7.30pm. DESCRIPTION:Negative Space & Photographic Chaos – Leigh Preston FRPS MPAGB APAGB \nA great friend of the club  and always an entertaining speaker with relevant messages to us. \nLast seen exhibiting together with the Focus Group and here are some of his images. \nhttp://www.focusgroupphotography.com/gallery_727220.html \nI have been taking pictures for over forty years. My work has been mainly thematic\, making images as a series. I have a relatively specific approach to what I choose to make pictures of\, and I rely heavily on atmospherics\, dramatic lighting and strong storylines to convey an individual style. A lot of my personal work is taken either in isolated places or of buildings and landscapes that are well past their ‘sell-by’ date. A lot of my work is monochrome\, using both digital and darkroom processes\, depending on the ‘feel’ I want from the finished print. \nI hold two RPS Fellowships\, one for pictorial images taken of the mill towns in Lancashire and Yorkshire and the other for Darkroom printing. I belong to the ARENA group of photographers and am a member of The London Salon. There have been two books of my images published: “Shadows of Change” and “Five Essays”. My work has been exhibited in London\, Dublin\, Birmingham\, Reading\, Manchester\, Gloucester and Belfast.

DESCRIPTION:A Feeling of Impressionism: Steve Le Prevost FRPS \nWhere possible my aim is to challenge the fundamentals and boundaries of photography and to strive to be unique in my preferred style of photographic art.  \nAfter capturing the initial image with as much sharpness and detail as I can achieve I purposely set out to degrade the image\, to reduce that clinical sharpness we generally associate with a more standard record photograph. My goal is to create a picture with mood\, feeling and atmosphere. The creative process begins to take shape in my imagination and evolves as the picture takes shape\, the end result can and often is completely different to how I had envisaged it initially. Compositional rule breaking is something I enjoy so I try to add this to the mix as often as I feel it appropriate. If the end result gives pleasure to someone and maybe hangs on the walls of their home I have succeeded.  \nJudging National and International Salons is something I greatly enjoy along with giving presentations of my work. I am enormously grateful to Fotospeed Distribution for sponsoring me\, this allows me the opportunity to test drive a large variety of photographic papers.

DESCRIPTION:MultiMedia Group\nThe Multimedia Group meets during the club season\, generally on the last Wednesday of each month. The first meeting is 26th September 2018 at 7:30 Tangmere Centre (for more details please check the website: http://chichestercameraclub.org.uk/category/multimedia/ ). \nThe idea of the group is to encourage members to present their images in many different formats\, such as Books\, AVs and perhaps AV with video clips. \nThe common theme is about creating a coherent collection of images and then presenting them. The images may just sit well together or tell a story. Many of our members are interested in documentary photography and Books and AVs are an idea medium to present such work. \nWhen embarking on such a project there are new tools to learn such as Book authoring software\, AV production software such as Pictures2Exe or Video editing software for video clips. The group runs tutorial sessions to get you going and provides a meeting place to discuss projects\, ideas and tackle any difficulties you may be having. \nTime is available at each meeting for members to bring their work and receive constructive criticism. \nThe group can also provide guidance on constructing a successful Book or AV. With AVs\, the use of sound\, the timing and the ordering of the slides can all lift the final product. Books benefit from thinking about the layout\, the font\, the page colours and many other factors. \nWe hope to have speakers during the year to discuss their work and provide inspiration or education. The first meeting is usually reserved to setting an agenda for the rest of the year\, taking into account the wishes of the group members. \nThe group is open to all\, the cost to Chichester Camera club members is £3 and to others £4. \nLook forward to seeing you\, \nJeff Owen

DESCRIPTION:Tides and Tempests\, Coastal Photography: Rachael Talibart \nBlack and White Photographer of the Year 2018 \nOne of ‘the best outdoor photographers working in the UK today’\, a ‘landscape master’ Outdoor Photography Magazine June 2016\n \nRachael grew up on the south coast of England. Her first career was as a solicitor in the City of London. During the City years\, Rachael’s friends and colleagues were used to seeing her return from trips with bags full of exposed film; the developing sometimes cost more than the trip! In 2008\, she converted to digital and she says that is when the obsession really set in. In 2000\, Rachael left her City career and\, after obtaining two more degrees\, she now works full-time on her photography. \nMuch of Rachael’s early childhood was spent at sea. This has left her with a life-long fascination for the ocean in all its forms\, but especially in stormy weather. Rachael travels widely for her photographs but retains a special fondness for the South of England and many of her images are created there. For Rachael\, nothing beats a day on an empty shore\, the wilder the weather the better\, and this is reflected in her work. \nRachael’s photographs have been published in books and both print and online magazines\, have been exhibited widely in the UK as well as Barcelona and New York\, and appear in private collections in the UK and USA. She is owner of f11 Workshops\, providing photography day workshops in the South of England and runs residential photography workshops for international\, fine art photography business\, Ocean Capture. DESCRIPTION:The Print Group reconvenes for the new season on Tuesday 11th September\, meeting as always in the Small Hall at Tangmere Village Centre at 7.30pm. \nThe group is an ideal way to share your enjoyment in photography  and to share views\, tips and techniques on printed images.  It’s all about the end product\, so so while we don’t look specifically at the process of printing itself (see the Digital Group for sessions on printing)\, we do look at all matters relating to the end image.  So we cover composition\, cropping\, content and also look at the ways different papers will affect the finished picture\, as well as touching on mounting. \nYou can bring along your favourite images to share\, work in progress\, those images that don’t quite seem to come together on which you’d like different opinions or perhaps images you are thinking about entering for competitions.  You’ll also be very welcome to just come along to find out more about the group without bringing work to show. \nImages don’t need to be mounted\, but please do just stick them onto some firm card so that they will stay on the display stands we use. \nThe group is open to all photographers\, whether new or advanced\, and is an easy way in to  learn about critique and chat to other Club members about work. The group is also open to non-members\, and the charge is £3 for Club members and £4 for visitors. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Joy of Seeing : Photography My Way Viveca Koh FRPS \nViveca photographed last visit at her talk on smart phone photography is an exciting speaker and welcome back with what will be a very stimulating evening and a range of interesting photos. \nViveca Koh FRPS  \nI am a self-taught Fine Art photographer\, with a special fascination for small details\, for lost\, abandoned\, poignant and generally broken objects\, and also for darkness contrasting with light\, both in a physical and emotional sense. \nMany of my illustrative images simply evolve as I am working on them – I start off with a quite straightforward idea of what I want to achieve but am always willing to venture wherever the photograph wants me to go\, as I overlay multiple images together or add textures\, scanned documents as new layers\, and subtle shading. Two photographs may blend together in a way that I could not have previously imagined\, and this is one of the things that I find so exciting and all-consuming when I work\, to produce a final image that perhaps a little bit different\, that invokes emotion in the viewer and makes them question their sense of the world as they know it. \nIn June 2014 I was awarded a Fellowship Distinction by the Royal Photographic Society\, following on from an Associateship Distinction in June 2011 and a Licentiateship Distinction in 2010.

DESCRIPTION:Chichester Allotments 9th August 6pm\n \nLooking further ahead Rob Campling is organising a trip to Chichester allotments. Rob has provided the following information: \nPlace: St Paul’s/Little Breach Allotments. No post code\, but PO19 5UA gets you to the turning off St Paul’s Road that leads to Little Breach. The allotment gate is on the left right after the side road (Woodlands Lane) which leads to two schools. It has City Council notices plastered all over the gate. \nParking: On street parking – usually fairly easy at this time. \nMeeting: I’ll be waiting at the gate. \nLength of stay: An hour or two. \nWrap Up:  At the Rainbow Inn from 7.30. A  CAMRA pub but no food after c. 7pm \nWhat to see:  It’s a large site with upwards of 60 allotments. Everything from the scrupulously tidy to the abandoned\, plus hedgerows\, trees and a tame fox. Sheds and greenhouses. A couple of chicken runs as well!  I’ll make sure the visit is publicised by the City Council so everyone will know the the Club are visting. \n
