DESCRIPTION:The RPS Group welcomes all those who are interested in finding out more and working towards the distinctions offered by the Royal Photographic Society. We meet for our second session this season on Tuesday 15th October when we will be looking at some recent LRPS (Licentiate) and ARPS (Associate) awards and the underlying principles of making panels (that is a cohesive group pf images) at those levels. \nYou are welcome to simply come along to find out more\, and when you are ready\, to bring along a good wide selection of your photographs.  These do not need to be full size (A5 or so is fine)\, but do please tack them onto some card as this helps keep them upright on the print stands we use.   \nOther members of the group are already well on their way to completed panels and our discussions of those will demonstrate further how to go about applying for these highly regarded distinctions. \nYou don’t need to be a member of Chichester Camera Club to join this (or indeed any of our Special Interest Groups). \nLorna Brown \nThe featured image is by Sara Nichol and formed part of her successful LRPS

DESCRIPTION:Print Group got of to a great start last month with a good number of brave new members ready to show work\, and very interesting work it was too with much diversity.  \nWe meet again on Tuesday 8th October at 715 for a 7.30pm start in the small hall at Tangmere Village Centre\, at £3 for members. \nAs always\, the group welcomes photographers at all levels of experience and you can bring along work at various stages to share. It can be finished work you’d like to show\, work in progress or that tricky image that you’d like advice on. You might like to use the group to help you deiced which images to put in for competitions\, and later in the year to think about exhibition prints. \nYou are also welcome to just come along to see what the group is about and there’s no need to bring work if you don’t feel ready to. \nThere’s no need to mount work – but if you attach prints (which can be just A5 approximate size) to card they will sit better on the prints stands. \nI look forward to seeing you then. \nLorna Brown \nThe featured image is by Steven Tattersall

DESCRIPTION:Chris\, who died in 1997 was a Fellow of the Royal and a member of the London Salon.  His speciality was dramatic Monochrome Landscapes of Sussex\, Cornwall and Scotland amongst others\, and the original prints which have been lost for over 20 years deserve to be seen in their original form.

SUMMARY:Dr Peter Moseley: Photographic Processes
DESCRIPTION:I’m a photographer/printmaker specialising in early photographic processes – photogravure\, platinum\, carbon transfer\, salt\, albumen and cyanotype printing. I arrange workshops and provide individual tuition at at universities\, colleges and other print studios\, both in the UK and abroad. \nMy life-long interest in photography has been extended with an MA in Printmaking (Brighton University) and\, more recently\, through a PhD project investigating nineteenth century photographic printing processes at the ‘Centre for Fine Print Research’ at the University of the West of England. \n​ \nImage from Chichester Art Trail. \nI have a particular interest in portraiture and have held several solo exhibitions and been shown at the the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers\, The Royal West of England Academy and The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. One of my photogravure portraits was been selected for display in the 2016 Taylor Wessing Photography Prize at the National Portrait Gallery.

DESCRIPTION:The first Print group of the new season is on Tuesday 10th September in the small hall at Tangmere Village Centre. New members are especially welcome to come along and find out more.  \nThe group is a friendly and supportive way to share your images and your views. Those coming along have a wide range of photographic experience and knowledge which we share in an informal workshop type setting.  For those who have never shown their photographs to anyone other than family and friends\, we know it can be quite daunting to share your images with others and this group is a very easy way to take that step. We all learn from each other and can assist with in getting the best out of your prints\, deciding which images to enter for competitions or just to enjoy seeing each many different styles and interests in the work we share. \nWhile you are not obliged to bring along work and can just come along to see what we do\, you are encouraged to do so. SUMMARY:2019 Southampton International PDI Show – Sue Dunham LRPS APAGB
DESCRIPTION:2019 Southampton International PDI Show – Sue Dunham LRPS APAGB \n \nThe Southampton Camera Club was formed in 1896 and now runs one of the largest and oldest international photographic salons in the United Kingdom. Our 2018 International Exhibition attracted entries from nearly 60 countries around the world and SIE 2019 is the 106th anniversary of this prestigious event. \nOur exhibition is run under the patronage of La Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP)\, the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and the Global Photographic Union (GPU). \nAt the discretion of the judges\, it is our intention to issue a total of over 200 awards. In each class\, these will include FIAP\, PSA and GPU Gold medals\, 2 other PSA or GPU medals\, 6 Southampton Camera Club medals plus a number of Certificates of Merit and Ribbons. An additional Medal – 1 per class – will be awarded by our Chairman. The entrant with the highest overall acceptance total will win the FIAP Blue Badge for Best Author. \nAs usual\, entrants to the Smethwick International Exhibition (which closed on 11/11/2018) were able to select the option to have their prints forwarded to us\, thus saving on postage costs. DESCRIPTION:3rd Club/Inter Print Competition Caroline Colegate ARPS APAGB \nCaroline achieved her ARPS in Contemporary Photography in 2011 and enjoys all genres of photography. Her own personal choice of subject matter is anything to which she has a strong emotional attachment or one that has an enduring expressive quality. \nShe is passionate about the quality of images and plays an active role in coaching people to achieve both RPS & PAGB distinctions. In 2002 she became a judge for the Southern Counties Photographic Federation (SCPF) and additionally has made a significant contribution to photography throughout the region with her activities in judging\, lecturing and raising the profile of camera clubs to a wider audience. Caroline is a member of the SCPF Judging Committee and is involved with the vetting and assessing of applications from potential new judges. She was awarded a Roll of Honour from the SCPF in 2013.

DESCRIPTION:2019 Bristol Salon PDI Show Pete Howell & Carol Sykes \nThe Salon is conducted under the approved rules of the Photographic Society of America (PSA): 2019/024 and under the patronage of the Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP): 2019/022\, the Global Photographic Union (GPU): L190011 and International Union of Photographers (IUP): 2019/001. As a result of the efficient running of previous Salons these four organisations have awarded Gold\, Silver and Bronze medals for presentation to the top entries in the exhibition. In addition we will be awarding Bristol Salon Ribbons (Honorable Mentions); we hope to present approximately 300 awards again this year. Award winners and acceptances will count towards the granting of PSA & FIAP ratings.

DESCRIPTION:This month’s Print Group will have a particular focus on submitting work for the forthcoming Annual  Exhibition – the deadline for which is  the 16th May.  Bring along work in progress you’d like to share and perhaps get views on\, finished work you’re thinking of entering for the exhibition\, or just prints you would like to show. \nThis will be an ideal opportunity to get to understand the the behind the scenes workings of the Annual Exhibition and how best to present your work to ensure it does as well as possible.  Unlike the two ‘free-form’ exhibitions of North Mundham and the Spring Exhibition\, this one is judged\, although every member who submits work is guaranteed at least one image will be accepted. \nThere’s no need to mount work\, but please do attache prints to simple pieces of card so that they will stay upright on the prints stands. \nYou are also very welcome to just drop in to join the group without bringing prints along if you don’t feel ready to share work yet. \nTuesday 9th April at 7pm in the small hall at Tangmere. £3 for members and £4 for visitors.
