DESCRIPTION:  \nGavin Hoey is a freelance photographer\, writer and trainer of all things photographic. His work is regularly featured in photography magazines\, websites and videos. Gavin has a real passion for sharing his photography and Photoshop knowledge. In 2008 he started recording and uploading video tutorials to YouTube. These quickly gained a large following and to date his videos have been viewed over 20 million times. In 2010 Gavin was the winner of Adobe’s “Next Photoshop Evangelist” competition and since then he has given training demonstrations in Photoshop\, Lightroom and Photoshop Elements in the UK\, Europe and the US. DESCRIPTION:We had another very lively Print Group meeting in October and it is especially encouraging that so many of our newer members are coming along and starting to share their work. \nOur discussions turned to the use of good quality printing paper and with this in mind our November meeting will look in particular at the ranges of papers\, the pros and cons of lustre\, glossy and matt\, matching images to paper types and some of the different manufacturers. \nIf you’d like to just come along and find out more\, it isn’t obligatory to bring images\, but if you would like to\, do  bring your images\, work in progress or finished work as always. SUMMARY:1st Advanced Print Comp: Judge Bob Webzell ARPS EFIAP
DESCRIPTION:Bob is a past-president of Brighton and Hove Camera Club\, and A-list judge and a lecturer and judge in photography all over the south-east and also is a member of the Nature Photographers Portfolio\, and in conjunction with poet Wayne Visser\, produced his first book ‘African Dream’ in 2012. \nHis diverse travel and wildlife photography has helped achieve a LRPS in 2000 and an ARPS in 2001.  An  extensive involvement in international exhibiting since then has secured  over 300 images accepted into exhibitions world-wide and an AFIAP in 2011 and EFIAP in 2012. Next on the horizon should be the Masters in FIAP. \n

SUMMARY:Paul Davison ARPS DPAGB: Shipbreaking. Whale Hunters of Lamalera & a Slice of Paradise
DESCRIPTION:I’ve always enjoyed visiting new places\, meeting new people and I suffer from an unquenchable desire to escape normality.  For as long as I can remember I’ve always had the urge to get out and see the world\, experience new cultures and explore wild landscapes but it wasn’t until I started to travel the world that photography became one of my great passions in life. \nOver the past decade or so I’ve been able to travel extensively and experience many of the amazing gifts the planet has to offer.  It’s these experiences that naturally led to me specialising in travel photography.  Although it’s often the incredible landscapes that make people want to travel\, it’s the culture and interaction with the native people that I find the most rewarding.  I love to take candid photos of people going about their everyday life.  If you can take an image that captures the essence of a culture and successfully relay that to the viewer then it will have achieved everything a good travel image should. \nI was awarded an Associateship with the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS) in 2009 for a set of images taken in India.  This kick started my emerging path in life and I now regularly undertake photographic commissions for a variety of clients.  This in turn has led to the sale of images to multinational corporations and images being selected for use in global seminars.  In 2013 I was awarded a Distinction with the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (DPAGB) for a portfolio of 15 images taken over the last few years.

DESCRIPTION:  \nCaroline achieved her ARPS in Contemporary Photography in 2011 and enjoys all genres of photography. Her own personal choice of subject matter is anything to which she has a strong emotional attachment or one that has an enduring expressive quality. \nShe is passionate about the quality of images and plays an active role in coaching people to achieve both RPS & PAGB distinctions. In 2002 she became a judge for the Southern Counties Photographic Federation (SCPF) and additionally has made a significant contribution to photography throughout the region with her activities in judging\, lecturing and raising the profile of camera clubs to a wider audience. Caroline is a member of the SCPF Judging Committee and is involved with the vetting and assessing of applications from potential new judges. She was awarded a Roll of Honour from the SCPF in 2013.

SUMMARY:Dr Peter Moseley: Photographic Processes
DESCRIPTION:I’m a photographer/printmaker specialising in early photographic processes – photogravure\, platinum\, carbon transfer\, salt\, albumen and cyanotype printing. I arrange workshops and provide individual tuition at at universities\, colleges and other print studios\, both in the UK and abroad. \nMy life-long interest in photography has been extended with an MA in Printmaking (Brighton University) and\, more recently\, through a PhD project investigating nineteenth century photographic printing processes at the ‘Centre for Fine Print Research’ at the University of the West of England. \n​ \nImage from Chichester Art Trail. \nI have a particular interest in portraiture and have held several solo exhibitions and been shown at the the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers\, The Royal West of England Academy and The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. One of my photogravure portraits was been selected for display in the 2016 Taylor Wessing Photography Prize at the National Portrait Gallery.

DESCRIPTION:The first Print group of the new season is on Tuesday 10th September in the small hall at Tangmere Village Centre. New members are especially welcome to come along and find out more.  \nThe group is a friendly and supportive way to share your images and your views. Those coming along have a wide range of photographic experience and knowledge which we share in an informal workshop type setting.  For those who have never shown their photographs to anyone other than family and friends\, we know it can be quite daunting to share your images with others and this group is a very easy way to take that step. We all learn from each other and can assist with in getting the best out of your prints\, deciding which images to enter for competitions or just to enjoy seeing each many different styles and interests in the work we share. \nWhile you are not obliged to bring along work and can just come along to see what we do\, you are encouraged to do so. Prints can be any size\, do not need to be mounted\, can be work in progress or long finished images you’d just like to show. do though please back prints with some card so they will stay upright on the print stands we use. \nCome along at 7.15 for a 7.30pm start\, and there is a charge of £3 for Club members\, £4 for visitors who are also very welcome. \nSarah Nichol’s lovely print Home from the Market was included in her Annual Exhibition panel this year
