DESCRIPTION:Mark Pain is a multi-award winning sports photographer with over 25 years experience and international recognition. Covering major events worldwide from the Olympic Games to the Ryder Cup\, and from football and rugby World Cups to World Championship athletics\, Mark has worked at the top of his profession for many years and was Chief Sports Photographer of the Mail On Sunday for over twenty years. \nHe captures Premier League football action most weeks\, as well as taking portraits and features of the biggest and best stars in the world of sport\, working for both editorial and corporate clients. \nHaving won many competitions and been highly commended on numerous occasions\, including as a sports finalist in the World Press Photo 1998\, Mark was named as the Sports Photographer of the Year in 2005 and 2011 at the British Press Awards. \nHe was named as the British Airways Olympic Photographer Of The Year 2012 at the prestigious UK Guild Of Picture Editors Awards. \nIn 2011 Mark successfully launched the first dedicated Sports Photography School in the UK\, and in 2013 became a Nikon UK Ambassador.

DESCRIPTION:The RPS Group meets again in February on Tuesday 18th\, when we will continue our consideration of the distinctions offered by the Royal Photographic Society\, and provide the ongoing support to Club members and visitors in putting together successful panels at all RPS levels. \nFor Licentiate level\, you need to construct 10 images that sit well together in a complementary  way (the ‘panel’) that show a wide range of good photographic techniques. Associate level requires 15 images united with a theme and Fellowship 20 (or 21) images\, again with a strong theme. \nIf you’d like to find out more\, you’ll be very welcome to come along. DESCRIPTION:Born in East Yorkshire\, Paul’s interest for photography began at school. He then studied graphic design at art college and soon after began his design career in London working for many well known FMCG companies and brands. He now lives\, and runs his own design consultancy in Buckinghamshire and tries to devote most of his free time to photographing the landscape. \n \nPaul has had numerous exhibitions in London and the South East and has had articles and images published in many photographic magazines. He is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and currently serves on the Fine Art Distinctions Panel. A trustee of the Stephen H Tyng Collection\, a member of the prestigious Arena group and a founder member of The Landscape Collective UK (LCUK). Paul is also a well respected photographic judge and lecturer. \nPaul has also been successful in the prestigious Landscape Photographer of the Year competition\, winning the Sunday Times Choice Award in 2013\, the Urban Category winner in 2015 and commended in 2017 and 2018. He has also had recent successes in the Outdoor Photographer of the Year and the International Garden Photographer of the Year. \nApart from his self-published book on pinhole photography “Spirit of Light” he has collaborated with four renowned photographers to publish “The Coast – a personal view of the English coastline”.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n

DESCRIPTION:The Print Group meets on the 11th February with our usual mix of work in progress through to favourite prints brought along to share.   \nWith the Spring Exhibition just weeks away now (28th and 29th March) it’s also a perfect chance to bring along ideas for the exhibition where creativity is the order of the day and the usual rules about print mounts are abandoned. The priority for the Spring Exhibition\, as it is for North Mundham\,  is how to put together a compelling panel. \nAlso in March\, there is the Print Panel competition where the print competition mount rules  do apply while the emphasis is still on how images work best together. Leo classes himself as a “Jobbing Amateur” who will photograph\, poorly\, anything that takes his fancy though he has developed a love of taking environmental people portraits when travelling.\nHe enjoys Wildlife (and the wildlife) and Natural History subjects but photographs them very badly. He is always seeking a fresh challenge in the hope that\, given time\, he will produce a half decent image. \n \nHistory\nHaving acquired an interest in photography whilst a schoolboy\, and teaching himself to take\, develop and print pictures he has been a “club photographer” for many years and is an avid entrant in photographic exhibitions throughout the World. In the past eight years alone he has amassed over 1000 acceptances\, achieving numerous medals\, ribbons and awards in more than 30 countries on five Continents. \nHe is also a Photographic Alliance of Great Britain Judge and has been the Selector for National and International Exhibitions as well as their own Awards for Photographic Merit scheme.
