DESCRIPTION:Mark Pain is a multi-award winning sports photographer with over 25 years experience and international recognition. Covering major events worldwide from the Olympic Games to the Ryder Cup\, and from football and rugby World Cups to World Championship athletics\, Mark has worked at the top of his profession for many years and was Chief Sports Photographer of the Mail On Sunday for over twenty years. \nHe captures Premier League football action most weeks\, as well as taking portraits and features of the biggest and best stars in the world of sport\, working for both editorial and corporate clients. \nHaving won many competitions and been highly commended on numerous occasions\, including as a sports finalist in the World Press Photo 1998\, Mark was named as the Sports Photographer of the Year in 2005 and 2011 at the British Press Awards. \nHe was named as the British Airways Olympic Photographer Of The Year 2012 at the prestigious UK Guild Of Picture Editors Awards. \nIn 2011 Mark successfully launched the first dedicated Sports Photography School in the UK\, and in 2013 became a Nikon UK Ambassador.

After 3 years\, the minimum time in which a SCPF judge can advance to level 3\, I applied and was successful. I am also on the Stour and Avon Photographic Association judging list\, this Association represents 12 camera clubs in east Dorset and West Hampshire. I am invited to judge their league matches\, the semi finals and finals competitions on a regular basis. I have been invited to judge at clubs from East Dorset in the Southern Federation to East Sussex in the Surrey Federation and up as far as the M4 corridor. \n\n\n\nDuring the last 19 years I have undertaken in excess of 570 judging events normally in the annual period between September to end of May although I do get invited to one or two clubs during the Summer Season. Most of these are repeat invites. \nI regularly judge at the Isle of Wight Camera Clubs for the SCPF league matches\, various Inter Island Club Trophy competitions and the All Island Picture of the Year Competition which is hosted by a different club each year and the Hasselblad ALL Island Projected Image Trophy. \nTo date I have judged the 2015 Chichester Camera Club Print and PDI Exhibitions; 2016 the Surrey Photographic Association Inter Club Print Championships and the 2017 Guernsey Eisteddfod Print and PDI Exhibitions. The Eisteddfod Judging is over a 4 day period and in addition to judging the images there is separately recorded comments for every image and a presentation of my own work to the Island Camera Clubs. \nI have been active in club photography for over 40 years; during this time I have continuously entered and have work accepted in National and International Exhibitions attaining several awards. I have been successful in gaining my DPAGB AFIAP BPE2 and continue to enter FIAP and BPE exhibitions not only to work towards the next levels but to ensure I am familiar with current exhibition standards. When I can I attend the APM weekends and the Interclub Championships so as to be familiar with the standards set by British Judges. I also sit on the SCPF judge’s sub- committee”. \n\n\n\n  \n

She developed her skills as an adult learner at Brockenhurst College and by being an active member of Lymington\, Southampton and Winchester Camera Clubs. She achieved her Licenciateship of the Royal Photographic Society in 2016\, her Artiste Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique in 2017\, and her Distiction Photographic Alliance of Great Britian in 2018 – all internationally recognised photographic accreditations. Maria is also one of the team that runs the Southampton International Exhibition of Photography\, now in its 106th year and it is one of the most prestigious Salons of Photography in the world\, attracting over 10\,000 entries from 60 countries. A yearly exhibition at West Quay Southampton shopping centre showcases the very best photographic images from all over the world. However\, Maria’s heart lies at home – her animals are always a firm favourite and the local landscape\, people\, flora & fauna that share our stunning Forest will always be her first love\, and being able to capture them remains the motivation and pleasure for picking up the camera.
