DESCRIPTION:Guy started in photography as a boy in 1946\, and was soon developing and printing my own films\, he really did not get serious until 1989 when I joined a camera club. In 2002 he was awarded the Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society. In January 2005 he joined the Photographic Society of America\, which also offers recognition for acceptances in international exhibitions. \nIn 2009\, I was awarded the AFIAP distinction and later in the year the PPSA distinction of the Photographic Society of America. He was also very pleased to achieve the Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society with a panel of prints showing details of sandstone rocks. \nHis preference is for landscapes but he also loves waterfalls and seascapes. To see more of Guys work see http://www.gdpix.co.uk/ \n \nPaulas main interest is the intimate landscape. All of her pictures started as photographs\, either from colour transparencies\, black & white negatives or digitally captured. She has been using digital cameras exclusively since 2003 and Adobe Photoshop or Corel Painter IX are her chosen tools on the computer. DESCRIPTION:Double Exposure Two – Paula FRPS & Guy ARPS Davies \n \nHyacinth by Paula Davies \nLuskentyre estuary by Guy Davies   \n“I describe myself as a “butterfly photographer” because I flit from subject to subject taking a photograph of anything that attracts me. I enjoy being out in the landscape pressing the shutter but I get particular satisfaction from seeking out abstract images in man-made and natural objects that look like landscapes. My FRPS panel was a good example of this.” \nquote Paula Davies \nGuy likes to apply the darkroom approach to bringing out the best in an image by selectively adjusting contrast. He particularly enjoys a monochrome picture and generally tends towards the dramatic approach but is occasionally tempted into trying the delicate/high key technique.

DESCRIPTION:  \nMy father introduced me to photography\, and the darkroom\, when I was about seven years old\, and I’ve been producing pictures ever since. \n  \nI became actively involved in club photography in 1979\, (as a member of Field End Photographic Society in Ruislip\, Middlesex). I gained an Associateship of the RPS with traditional darkroom monochrome prints\, and a Fellowship with digital colour prints.  I serve on the RPS Fine Art Associateship and Fellowship assessment panel\, and provide advice at RPS distinction workshops. \n  \nA busy national PAGB judge\, and popular lecturer\, I have visited more than 230 different camera clubs\, and judged many regional\, national and international exhibitions. DESCRIPTION:2019 Bristol Salon PDI Show Pete Howell & Carol Sykes \nThe Salon is conducted under the approved rules of the Photographic Society of America (PSA): 2019/024 and under the patronage of the Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP): 2019/022\, the Global Photographic Union (GPU): L190011 and International Union of Photographers (IUP): 2019/001. As a result of the efficient running of previous Salons these four organisations have awarded Gold\, Silver and Bronze medals for presentation to the top entries in the exhibition. In addition we will be awarding Bristol Salon Ribbons (Honorable Mentions); we hope to present approximately 300 awards again this year. Award winners and acceptances will count towards the granting of PSA & FIAP ratings.

DESCRIPTION:3rd Club/Inter Print Competition Caroline Colegate ARPS APAGB \nCaroline achieved her ARPS in Contemporary Photography in 2011 and enjoys all genres of photography. Her own personal choice of subject matter is anything to which she has a strong emotional attachment or one that has an enduring expressive quality. \nShe is passionate about the quality of images and plays an active role in coaching people to achieve both RPS & PAGB distinctions. In 2002 she became a judge for the Southern Counties Photographic Federation (SCPF) and additionally has made a significant contribution to photography throughout the region with her activities in judging\, lecturing and raising the profile of camera clubs to a wider audience. Caroline is a member of the SCPF Judging Committee and is involved with the vetting and assessing of applications from potential new judges. She was awarded a Roll of Honour from the SCPF in 2013.

DESCRIPTION:2019 Southampton International PDI Show – Sue Dunham LRPS APAGB \n \nThe Southampton Camera Club was formed in 1896 and now runs one of the largest and oldest international photographic salons in the United Kingdom. Our 2018 International Exhibition attracted entries from nearly 60 countries around the world and SIE 2019 is the 106th anniversary of this prestigious event. \nOur exhibition is run under the patronage of La Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP)\, the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and the Global Photographic Union (GPU). \nAt the discretion of the judges\, it is our intention to issue a total of over 200 awards. In each class\, these will include FIAP\, PSA and GPU Gold medals\, 2 other PSA or GPU medals\, 6 Southampton Camera Club medals plus a number of Certificates of Merit and Ribbons. An additional Medal – 1 per class – will be awarded by our Chairman. The entrant with the highest overall acceptance total will win the FIAP Blue Badge for Best Author. \nAs usual\, entrants to the Smethwick International Exhibition (which closed on 11/11/2018) were able to select the option to have their prints forwarded to us\, thus saving on postage costs. The Southampton entry procedure allows such entrants to indicate that their prints will be arriving via Smethwick. \n\n

DESCRIPTION:I’m a photographer/printmaker specialising in early photographic processes – photogravure\, platinum\, carbon transfer\, salt\, albumen and cyanotype printing. I arrange workshops and provide individual tuition at at universities\, colleges and other print studios\, both in the UK and abroad. \nMy life-long interest in photography has been extended with an MA in Printmaking (Brighton University) and\, more recently\, through a PhD project investigating nineteenth century photographic printing processes at the ‘Centre for Fine Print Research’ at the University of the West of England. \n​ \nImage from Chichester Art Trail. \nI have a particular interest in portraiture and have held several solo exhibitions and been shown at the the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers\, The Royal West of England Academy and The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. One of my photogravure portraits was been selected for display in the 2016 Taylor Wessing Photography Prize at the National Portrait Gallery.

DESCRIPTION:  \nCaroline achieved her ARPS in Contemporary Photography in 2011 and enjoys all genres of photography. Her own personal choice of subject matter is anything to which she has a strong emotional attachment or one that has an enduring expressive quality. \nShe is passionate about the quality of images and plays an active role in coaching people to achieve both RPS & PAGB distinctions. In 2002 she became a judge for the Southern Counties Photographic Federation (SCPF) and additionally has made a significant contribution to photography throughout the region with her activities in judging\, lecturing and raising the profile of camera clubs to a wider audience. Caroline is a member of the SCPF Judging Committee and is involved with the vetting and assessing of applications from potential new judges. She was awarded a Roll of Honour from the SCPF in 2013.

DESCRIPTION:I’ve always enjoyed visiting new places\, meeting new people and I suffer from an unquenchable desire to escape normality.  For as long as I can remember I’ve always had the urge to get out and see the world\, experience new cultures and explore wild landscapes but it wasn’t until I started to travel the world that photography became one of my great passions in life. \nOver the past decade or so I’ve been able to travel extensively and experience many of the amazing gifts the planet has to offer.  It’s these experiences that naturally led to me specialising in travel photography.  Although it’s often the incredible landscapes that make people want to travel\, it’s the culture and interaction with the native people that I find the most rewarding.  I love to take candid photos of people going about their everyday life.  If you can take an image that captures the essence of a culture and successfully relay that to the viewer then it will have achieved everything a good travel image should. \nI was awarded an Associateship with the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS) in 2009 for a set of images taken in India.  This kick started my emerging path in life and I now regularly undertake photographic commissions for a variety of clients.  This in turn has led to the sale of images to multinational corporations and images being selected for use in global seminars.  In 2013 I was awarded a Distinction with the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (DPAGB) for a portfolio of 15 images taken over the last few years.

DESCRIPTION:Bob is a past-president of Brighton and Hove Camera Club\, and A-list judge and a lecturer and judge in photography all over the south-east and also is a member of the Nature Photographers Portfolio\, and in conjunction with poet Wayne Visser\, produced his first book ‘African Dream’ in 2012. \nHis diverse travel and wildlife photography has helped achieve a LRPS in 2000 and an ARPS in 2001.  An  extensive involvement in international exhibiting since then has secured  over 300 images accepted into exhibitions world-wide and an AFIAP in 2011 and EFIAP in 2012. Next on the horizon should be the Masters in FIAP. \n

These quickly gained a large following and to date his videos have been viewed over 20 million times.
