DESCRIPTION:Negative Space & Photographic Chaos – Leigh Preston FRPS MPAGB APAGB \nA great friend of the club  and always an entertaining speaker with relevant messages to us. \nLast seen exhibiting together with the Focus Group and here are some of his images. \nhttp://www.focusgroupphotography.com/gallery_727220.html \nI have been taking pictures for over forty years. My work has been mainly thematic\, making images as a series. I have a relatively specific approach to what I choose to make pictures of\, and I rely heavily on atmospherics\, dramatic lighting and strong storylines to convey an individual style. A lot of my personal work is taken either in isolated places or of buildings and landscapes that are well past their ‘sell-by’ date. A lot of my work is monochrome\, using both digital and darkroom processes\, depending on the ‘feel’ I want from the finished print. \nI hold two RPS Fellowships\, one for pictorial images taken of the mill towns in Lancashire and Yorkshire and the other for Darkroom printing. I belong to the ARENA group of photographers and am a member of The London Salon. There have been two books of my images published: “Shadows of Change” and “Five Essays”. My work has been exhibited in London\, Dublin\, Birmingham\, Reading\, Manchester\, Gloucester and Belfast.

DESCRIPTION:1st Club/Int PDI Competition – Leo Rich HonPAGB EFIAP/g \n\n\n\n\nHe joined his first camera club in the 1970’s and began entering National and International Exhibitions shortly afterwards with reasonable success over the years.\n\n\n\n\nChanging from film to digital was a long process as he endeavours to emulate the success he had with slides by trying to “get it right in the camera” rather than in post computer manipulation.   He likes to photograph anything that takes his fancy but has veered towards “people” pictures and natural history following his many travels\, particularly in India.  He is heavily involved in the administration side of UK photography and has been President of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain which has approximately 1\,000 camera clubs affiliated with an estimated 40\,000 members.  He is in demand for both his judging\, both in UK and abroad\, and also his humorous talks based on his travels.

DESCRIPTION:Pictures on a Page – Paul Sanders \nI am passionate about landscape photography. I love being outside surrounded by the beauty of the world we live in. It never ceases to amaze me\, as I watch the storm clouds blow in over the coast\, listen to the waves crashing against the rocky shores or watch sunlight stream through trees on a foggy morning\, how blessed and lucky we are to have such beauty on our doorsteps. \nRecently my work has been recognised by Fujifilm\, who inaugurated me into their exclusive X Series photographers . In addition to this honour I have been awarded Gold medals by the SWPP for my fine art and black and white images.

DESCRIPTION:18th North Mundham Exhibition \nYou are cordially invited to Chichester Camera Club’s eighteenth advanced members’ exhibition to be held on Saturday\, 19th January 2019 at the North Mundham Village Hall.  The exhibition will be open between 10 am and 5 pm with refreshments\, light lunches and teas available throughout the day.  If anyone cannot make it on the Saturday\, we will be open on the following day (Sunday) between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.  We will also have refreshments available on that day. \n \nPrint exhibitors have had the choice of varying screen spaces with the freedom to display virtually any type of work they wish with no rules on size\, subject matter technique\, etc. whilst PDI workers are each allowed to have up to 4 images projected\, again with no subject ruling.  Based on our previous\, similar exhibitions\, this freedom of choice has resulted in a considerable display of artistic talent.  The day has also proved to be a great social occasion. \nWe hope you will be able to visit us and look forward to meeting you on the 19th January.

SUMMARY:Chair's Evening - Personal reflections Mike Hancock
DESCRIPTION:The Chair’s Evening will comprise 2 parts.  In the first half Mike will give a presentation on some of the people and places he has encountered in his photography\, reflecting a very personal approach to what he is seeking to achieve and the enjoyment that has produced. \nGeographically\,  the images will cover several continents and cover some of the moments ‘that took the breath away’.  Inevitably sport will also feature\, covering both the challenges of trying to get good images and the sheer enjoyment of being there at major sporting occasions. \nThe second half\, by way of complete contrast\, will be a presentation by one of this year’s new members\, Alan Frost.  \nHe is a long standing member of Havant Camera Club\, recently having gained an ARPS qualification for his beautifully composed and sensitively produced Black and White images.  Alan comes to Chichester with the aim of developing yet further his already considerable photographic expertise. \nThe emphasis will be on having a fun evening and I hope including something for everyone’

SUMMARY:Double Exposure Two - Paula FRPS & Guy ARPS Davies\, Small Print Finals
DESCRIPTION:Guy started in photography as a boy in 1946\, and was soon developing and printing my own films\, he really did not get serious until 1989 when I joined a camera club. In 2002 he was awarded the Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society. In January 2005 he joined the Photographic Society of America\, which also offers recognition for acceptances in international exhibitions. \nIn 2009\, I was awarded the AFIAP distinction and later in the year the PPSA distinction of the Photographic Society of America. He was also very pleased to achieve the Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society with a panel of prints showing details of sandstone rocks. \nHis preference is for landscapes but he also loves waterfalls and seascapes. All of her pictures started as photographs\, either from colour transparencies\, black & white negatives or digitally captured. She has been using digital cameras exclusively since 2003 and Adobe Photoshop or Corel Painter IX are her chosen tools on the computer. DESCRIPTION:Double Exposure Two – Paula FRPS & Guy ARPS Davies \n \nHyacinth by Paula Davies \nLuskentyre estuary by Guy Davies   \n“I describe myself as a “butterfly photographer” because I flit from subject to subject taking a photograph of anything that attracts me. I enjoy being out in the landscape pressing the shutter but I get particular satisfaction from seeking out abstract images in man-made and natural objects that look like landscapes. My FRPS panel was a good example of this.” \nquote Paula Davies \nGuy likes to apply the darkroom approach to bringing out the best in an image by selectively adjusting contrast. He particularly enjoys a monochrome picture and generally tends towards the dramatic approach but is occasionally tempted into trying the delicate/high key technique.
