Chairman’s blog 11th April
We congratulate The Focus Group for their 10th anniversary and most successful exhibition to date with over 1000 visitors. Well done and we are proud to have so eminent members in our club.
Last Thursday with our very own Steve Marsh and Mike Davison we were entertained by some brilliant images in the street photography genre. The amount of effort and dedication needed to get the level of variety and range and humour in the images should not be underestimated as revealed by the explanation of the background to the images. It is so refreshing to see so many images showing humanity in different situations and in the tradition of the famous photographers that are on show in the exhibition at the Barbican “Strange and Familiar”. The Spring Exhibition is the next most important event at the end of next week. Hanging of images on Saturday 23rd April morning to finish before opening at 10am. There are still some flyers to collect and distribute, raffle prizes to donate and dont miss signing up for the dinner Saturday night. All can be done this Thursday
The Print Group meets tomorrow Tuesday 12th April. Lets help each other choose images for the Print Panel Competition on the 21st April and images for the Annual Exhibition. deadline 12th May.
The Black and White Group meet this Wednesday the 13th . At this meeting we will be discussing how to see in Black and White and help members to understand this subject a bit more.
At the SxPF, Sussex Photographic Federation print competition Chichester was equal 6th/18 in the Development group along with Storrington. 397 points. Winner was Bognor with 414 points.In the Open we didn’t do as well, equal 11th/18 along with Littlehampton with 381 points. Winners were Eastbourne with 413 points.
Considering we do not submit images from our advanced group in this class and are competing with the best from the other clubs, this is a good result. Well done and thanks to those who were at Burgess Hill representing The Club.
